Methods and Principles of X-BASS (Cross Battery Assessment Software System)September 23, 2015 | Time: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | Fee: $30 | Session ID: 1170585 September 23, 2015 | Time: 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. | Fee: $30 | Session ID: 1170586

Enhance your understanding and utilization of the Cross-Battery Assessment Software System (X-BASS) for interpreting and presenting findings based on the methods and principles of cross-battery assessment. A review of cross-battery principles and Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) theory will be completed. Conduct an analysis of specific test data and information and use your analysis to answer questions pertaining to the “pattern of strengths and weaknesses” component in specific learning disability evaluations as well as consider the test performance of individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The Neuropsychology of Reading and Written Language Disorders: A Framework for Effective Interventions October 2, 2015 | Time: 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. | Fee: $100 | Session ID: 1164848

Examine reading (dyslexia) and written language (dysgraphia) disorders from a brain-based educational perspective, and classify each disorder into distinct subtypes. There will be a detailed discussion linking each learning disorder’s subtype with scores of evidence-based interventions. Four universal truths with respect to teaching reading based upon brain-behavioral principles will be shared, in addition to five essential steps for effective written language instruction. Learn how to develop comprehensive assessment batteries for specific learning disorders when presented with various clinical case presentations and receive an introduction to an approach to learning disability evaluation by measuring eight core constructs associated with learning disorders in children, including the approach of the Feifer Assessment of Reading (FAR) battery. Multidisciplinary Approach to Dyslexia Identification October 7, 2015 | Time: 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. | Fee: $45 | Session ID: 1138707

Receive comprehensive instruction on using and applying the basic principles of the current methodology of Cross-Battery Assessment (XBA) (as outlined in Essentials of Cross-Battery Assessment, 3rd Edition), including the newly revised software (DMIA, PSW-A, C-LIM) that accompanies the volume and is designed to facilitate and automate the process. The session will be held at Galena Park ISD’s Zotz Education Center and will be presented by Dawn Flanagan, Ph.D. Credit: Clock Hours 6, CPE 6, NASP 6

Use of the WISC-V in Cross-Battery Assessment and SLD IdentificationOctober 16, 2015 | Time: 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. | Fee: $45 | Session ID: 1152875

Learn how to interpret the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children®-Fifth Edition (WISC-V) according to the CHC theory. Explore the strengths and weaknesses of the WISC-V and understand how to circumvent some of the most salient weaknesses of the cross battery to maximally exploit its clinical utility via the use of the X-BASS. Gain guidance on how to link WISC-V assessment results to education strategies and interventions that are likely to lead to positive outcomes for children. This presentation will also describe the pattern of strengths and weaknesses (PSW) approach to SLD identification and demonstrate how the WISC-V is used in the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test®, Third Edition (WIAT-III); Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement™, Third Edition (KTEA-3); and X-BASS to conduct a PSW
