They will join us for 15 days. Today we asked them if we could do an interview and they agreed. They are called Lei Guo, Hao Luo, Yuexing Li, Guanghou Zhou, Xinyao Li, Xinyi Tan and Yang Zuo. They are between the ages of 15 and 16 years which is grade senior 1(10) and senior 2 (11). They think our German food is very different from Chinese food, but they like it. We asked them if they liked Germany and they said they like it. The girls said they love the snow and the German houses, and the boys said they like the cars in Ger- many. They said that Germany differs from China, because in China people are often overly po- lite, asking “Have you eaten?” and being gen- erally very inquisitive. The Last Snowball Bash at ISH It looks like we´ve had the last “Hoorah!“ and our last chance at fun in the snow in Heiligenhaus. Interview with a New Teacher, Ms. Yamina Daki by Kimberly Wrightson

We have a new teacher at the secondary school. Her name is Yamina Daki and she will be teach-ing French and Spanish. Ms. Daki has taught in Guadalajara, Mexico, in Siena, Tuscany, and in Madrid, Spain. She is originally from Lille, France and speaks French, Spanish, Italian, English and a little German. She likes tennis, reading, walking, theater and playing chess. Ms. Daki lives in Cologne, where she likes to attend performances by the philharmonic orchestra. When asked if she misses her home,

Ms. Daki says, “Oui, bien- sȗr!” She said that the trip is not difficult to France and takes only three hours by train. Ms. Daki is co-teaching English with Ms. Wright-son until she begins teach-ing Spanish and she has begun teach-ing French already. Ms. Daki says she is enjoying teaching students at International School Heiligenhaus’ secon-dary school and looks forward to the Spring, 2012 term.

Ms. Daki says her favorite quote is by the late Victor Hugo, the French poet, playwright,

novelist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, human rights activist and exponent of the Romantic movement in France. The quote is “He who opens a school door, closes a prison.” Thank you for the inspiration, Ms. Daki, and we look

forward to seeing you more at ISH!

“He who opens a school door, closes a

prison.”
