If you discover a fire…

• Sound the alarm by breaking the nearest call point

• Call for assistance

• Turn off gas and/or nearby electrical appliances

• Attack fire with appliances provided but without taking personal risks

• Check the extinguisher is the correct type for the fire

Some older extinguishers are coloured entirely according to contents eg all black denotes CO2

ladders etc. Make sure equipment is suitable for work.
