This years's Orientation theme is and we encourage you to embrace this themethroughout your college career at Simmons. Takeadvantage of all that Simmons has to offer by trying anew class, meeting new people, exploring Boston, andallowing yourself to try something completely new. Atthe same time, make Simmons your home and let yourown unique personality shine through.  Summer Orientation is your opportunity to creatememorable moments at Simmons. Over the next twodays, you will meet other new students, select coursesfor the fall from our general education curriculum,and learn about life at Simmons and Boston. Youmight even find that discovering the spirit of Simmonsthrough our community might be one of your favoritecollege experiences.  We are so excited that you are here, and we lookforward to your participation in all aspects ofOrientation. The Office of Student Leadership andActivities, the Orientation Leaders and Captains, areready to assist you, so please do not hesitate to askquestions if you need help. Undergraduate Research & Fellowships support students inaccessing a wide array of scholarly opportunities. The officeoversees research opportunities such as the UndergraduateSymposium. Additionally, the office assists students inapplying for nationally competitive grants and fellowshipssuch as the Fulbright, Truman & Rhodes scholarships.

Come to thissession to learn about how the Office of Residence Lifeassigns roommates, how to utilize your professional staffmember and Resident Advisor, and ways build a relationshipwith your new roommate from day 1.

Allstudents are welcome - whether you are thinking about oralready planning to play a sport at Simmons. Mandatory for all student athletes.

5:00 pm Simmons offers a variety of academic programs whether youhave declared a major, are interested in researching a minoror are still deciding on a program. Join and meet faculty ineach of these sessions to understand what majors areoffered, how to get off to a good start in college, what asyllabus looks like, what types of assignments you willreceive, and about research and internship opportunitiesavailable to you in your first year.

Science for Social Good at Simmons, (Block 2 only), LEF 008,Ground Floor, Lefavour HallFind out how you can link your passions for science andsocial good in any of the science majors here at Simmons. Get involved in research projects that link science withsocial good, such as using robotics in a Rwandan Girls'School, mining historical records on mass incarceration inthe 1800's, discovering new antibiotics in the soil, usingGreen Chemistry to make toxin-free cosmetics, applyingultrasound for the treatment of birthmarks, designing abetter biosensor to detect contaminated water samples andmany more.

LGBTQIA Meet and Greet, (Block 2 only), Kotzen Room,Ground Floor, Lefavour HallThe LGBTQIA Meet and Greet provides lesbian, gay,bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, and allied students withthe opportunity to connect with current LGBTQIA and alliedstudents, faculty, and staff. Learn about student initiatives,collect resources, and get candid answers to yourquestions.

*Introduction to Pre-Health at Simmons, LEF 007, GroundFloor, Lefavour Hall Are you considering a Pre-Med, Pre-Dental, Pre-PhysicianAssistant, or Pre-Veterinary track?  Then you are Pre-Health!  Pre-Health coursework is designed to providestudents with strong preparation for admission to medical,dental, optometry, podiatry and physician assistant, andveterinary schools after Simmons. This session will give anoverview of what it means to be a first-year Pre-Healthstudent, and introduce you to some of the resourcesavailable to help you reach your goals.
