Welcome to the 1st International StuttgartConference on Automotive Production!

With 59 scientific contributions, 4 Keynotes and an individualstartup session, the fully virtual SCAP2020 conference will presentyou current fields of action for automotive value creation from 2 to10 November. Host of the Conference is the ARENA2036 ResearchCampus together with its collaboration partners University ofStuttgart, Fraunhofer IPA and STARTUP AUTOBAHN.In order to fully exploit the benefits of an online conference, allvideo speeches can be watched online during our pre-week from 2-8November. During the actual live conference on November 9 and10, keynotes as well as startup pitches are on display and attendeescan interact with the speakers in Live Video & Chat sessions. Automating the AutomationThe keynote focuses on customer-centered end-to-end-processes inautomated manufacturing. A fully integrated processing concept for CFRP components ispresented. The concept includes machining, cleaning, qualityassessment and sealing.

The Advanced Ply Placement handling approach enables layupof unidirectional fabrics onto complex, double-curved geometries.The working principles of the APP layup process is describedand the applicability in the automotive industry is discussed.

3.8 Enhancing textile forming using textile-appliedstrain sensors and segmented blank holder systemsJulian Fial, Stefan Carosella, Peter Middendorf

This paper describes the in-situ monitoring of specific textiledeformation mechanisms during the draping of carbon fibrefabrics. These mechanisms are measured using printed strainsensors and locally manipulated by segmented blankholders.
