• 1,050,000 students K-12– ~ 80,000 per grade
• 293 school “corporations”– 49 public charter schools
• Elected State Superintendent– Chairs a 11 member Gov.-appointed board
• $41 million for assessment/remediation– $ can only go to vendor or schools
Academic Standards
• Major Revision in 2000– From grade-span to grade level– Implemented with 2002 tests (2004
GQE)
• 6 year cycle of review align with textbook adoption
