CHAPTER OFFICERS Knights of Columbus Vol. 14 No. 12 June 2015 SUFFOLK CHAPTER NEWS From the Chapter Chairman’s Desk … My Brothers/Sisters: I first would like to thank my Vice-Chairman George for running the last meeting at the last minute. My wife had a cardiac procedure done and she had a bad reaction and she needed my attention. She is back on the road to recovery and I would like to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I want to thank Joan of Arc Council for hosting the meeting which was also Chaplain’s Night. I understand that Chaplain’s Night was well attended. I believe we had 12 priests and deacons attend including our own Father Dahm. As you know this is probably my last message as your Chapter Chairman as my term is coming to a close. I want to thank all the councils who invited me to various events and treated myself and my wife so warmly. I hope I served you well these past 2 years as Chapter Chairman. We tried some new things, we went to places we never have been to and we also had some bumps in the road. Overall, I think we did good. Thank you to all my officers, chairmen, directors and staff. Without all of you I couldn’t have done this job. Thank you to all the Grand Knights who supported our programs. My special thanks go out to our sister Columbiettes for all their help this year. Words cannot express how I feel about Suffolk County! We are Number 1! Please, I hope you give the same support to our next Chairman as you did to me. Please continue to support the Charity Drive as we still have 1 month remaining. Our numbers are down but I have confidence in all of you to make this a success! Please, we need you your support especially at the Charity Ball and our Direct Donations. Also we still need help with the 300 club. See George Lundin. All proceeds from this supports the FAC. My Dear Sister Columbiettes: As I sit here, I cannot believe that my term as president is just about over. I am proud to say that I believe we

had two successful years together! In addition to continuing to build a great relationship with our Brother Knights, we have held four successful Major Degrees bringing in to our Order over 120 Catholic women to do great things for charity. We have developed a wonderful relationship with The Little Flower Orphanage and we are looking forward to great things happening with them in the future. We have revised our Advisory and our By-Laws, and we have continued to support many seminarians, sister houses, and various charities throughout Suffolk County. We are very proud of our very own Kathy Andersons election to the position of NYS Sentinel and look forward to supporting her during her time as a State Officer. We say thank you to Joan Ansbach for her many years of dedication to this great state of New York and the Columbiettes wishing her well!

None of this success can be enjoyed without the help and support of our officers, our Past Presidents, and our Auiliaries. I say thank you to all who supported our Chapter for these past two years. Your smiles of encouragement, your donation of time, and your supportive nods made it all possible! We move on wishing success for the next two years!

I would like to announce the Slate of Officers for the 2015-2016 Columbian year who were nominated at our May meeting:

Anne Marie Callahan President Elaine Addie Vice President Colleen Wyman Secretary Jerry Berlenbach Financial Secretary Pat Tariol Treasurer Lisa Liguori Sentinel Amelia Joseph Past President (automatic) All Major Degree Columbiettes are eligible to run for any office from the floor at the election in June. Please be

sure to bring a resume listing your qualifications. Best wishes to all of the candidates. The Suffolk Chapter Charity Drive is still accepting reservations to the Charity Ball which will be held on

Sunday, June 28th at The Watermill. Tickets are $75.00 per person. For more information, please contact Anne Marie Callahan. Awards Books can continue to be sold right up to the day of the ball, and Direct Donations will be accepted at any time.

Our June meeting will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Resurrection of Our Lord in Farmingville at 8:00 p.m. with refreshments beginning at 7:30 p.m. We will select our charities and we will hold elections. We look forward to seeing many of you there to support the newly elected officers.

On behalf of Suffolk Chapter Columbiettes, we wish all who celebrate a Happy Fathers Day and encourage all to fly their flag on Flag Day, June 14!

In 1954, lobbying by the Order of the Knights of Columbus

helped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under

God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dwight

Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thanking

the Knights for their "part in the

movement to have the words 'under God'

added to our Pledge of Allegiance." I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United

States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

    PLEASE EXPEDITE

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an

apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his

life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up

his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we

may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant

Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor

I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.
