the heat of the moment

When you have invested so much in creating a home/workplace for yourself or for your tenants, it pays to care about the heating systems you install. As energy costs rise, keeping your space warm while easing climate change is increasingly challenging.

Süka design and manufacture slimline hybrid heating systems consisting of independently operated units in a range of sizes to suit all rooms. Because each unit operates independently, you only need to fit the number you require. Our low-energy, high-efficiency, clean and green heaters are easily controlled room by room. Süka’s cost-neutral package using solar pv systems to cushion your heating cost, means you are now closer to paying nothing for heating bills. Our heating systems are easy to install, guaranteed for 15 years and demonstrate German engineering at it’s best.

About süka products

We believe that as a business we come together with you as partners in a mutual exchange of value. Thus when a transaction occurs between us, it should be good for you and good for us.

Efficient and economical

The cost of energy for different heating systems is only part of it’s true running cost. The real cost of a heating system is the combination of the original installation cost, the annual fuel cost, any maintenance costs and the lifetime of the system.

With the introduction of a Süka system, using electricity is now one of the cheapest forms of home heating. Electric heating is 100% efficient at the point of use beacuse all the energy employed is turned into heat, unlike boiler based systems where energy is wasted through the flue, pipe-work and the time taken to get up to temperature.

Environmental and eco-friendly

Süka heaters are environmentally friendly in four ways:

1. No emissions: The heating element is fully embedded within the fire plate. There is no direct exposure to the surface atmosphere, so no combustion takes place and thus no oxygen is burnt. As a result, the heater provides warmth without causing carbon dioxide or toxin emissions. The radiators are truly eco-friendly systems.

2. Complete control of heat: Süka’s highly sophisticated time and temperature controllers have been designed to be set at different temperatures to suit the requirements of different rooms. Each Süka heater can be controlled independently, giving flexibility that is unachievable with boiler based systems. Accurate control of a heating system will not only reduce energy wastage but also save on running costs.

3. Efficient heat storage: At the heart of each Süka heating system are refractory ceramic

6

Page 7: SUKA 20pp ProductBrochure

plates – known as Chamotte. They combine a unique dynamic storage material with modern design and technology into one highly efficient unit. Within each plate is a low wattage heating element shaped like a ‘W’ which heats up the plate from inside – only when it needs it. Therefore, for 15 minutes of electricity, the Süka heater gives out up to 60 minutes of heat.

4. Low wattage: The power load of Süka heaters range from 400 watts for a small bedroom to 2,500 watts for a fairly large hall. Their power intake is designed to be so low that they can be plugged into a locally installed renewable energy source. The heaters’ ability to rely on local renewable power means their environmental impact through grid-generated power can be zero.

Easy to install

Süka heaters can be plugged into any 13amp socket either as a free standing unit or attached to the wall with the supplied wall brackets (which have been designed with DIY ease in mind). With no need for plumbing or the disruption and expense that goes with it, this means that no boilers, flues, piping or storage tanks need to be fitted or their capacity increased.

Whilst most people can master fixing the Süka heaters to the wall without any problems, under new Building Regulations, one does require a qualified electrician to install any complex electrical system. Süka heaters come with the 3 metre long cable pre-installed but without a plug in case the user needs to hard wire them.

Typically, 5 average size Süka heaters can be fitted with minimum disruptions within 3 hours.

Excellent value

Making your home or workplace healthier, warmer and more environmentally friendly needn’t be costly. Reducing your carbon footprint with Süka heaters not only saves money but also protects your family and the environment, in addition to adding value to your property. The rising cost of fossil fuel energy also makes choosing the Süka system such good sense.

With no moving parts or combustible fuel residues, Süka electric heaters require no maintenance whatsoever. No need for chimneysweeps, annual boiler maintenance, cleaning, repairs and stand-by duty services. Using normally-metered electricity, they are ideal for use where investment properties are to be heated.

Heaters with RF controls

SU31 series with radio controls

SU61 series with radio controls

With the Süka heaters you can achieve the benefits of a central heating system. By using our range of radio frequency (RF) controllers you can centrally control your heating system without the drawbacks of pipeworks or cableworks. The Süka RF controllers, enable the user to centrally control temperatures in several rooms or individually program heaters to come on and off at your chosen times and temperature settings.

The Süka heaters in combination with our RF controllers are the only heating system offering central heating comfort, which is easily extendable.

The SU31 series have been especially designed for conservatories or any room with low windows. With the RF controllers they offer high comfort and can be easily programmed to offer the highest heating comfort without having to worry about the continuous use.

The SU61 series is flexible, offering a wide range of use from a bathroom up to large open living spaces and hallways. The RF controls give you the option to centrally control the temperature in a large space.

Useful InformationThe UK Energy Saving Trust warns that a cold home can affect health and well being. They have therefore made recommendations of temperature levels that can be considered comfortable and ideal. The range is between a house temperature of 18 degrees Celsius to a living room temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. Any temperatures below this can pose risks to people especially the elderly and children. Temperatures set above that are considered too hot and energy wasting. Süka’s precision controllers give you the power set to your home temperatures. They are unique, automatic and easy to use.

Heaters with built-in controls

Each Süka heater has its own individual electronic thermostatic control unit. This is situated on the left side panel of the radiator with a control dial showing a frost guard symbol and numbers 1 to 8. This number range covers the complete change of temperature that occurs throughout our climate. The heater also has a sensor unit at the bottom which measures ambient temperature and airflow at floor level.

The simplicity of this type of controller is that the programming has already been done for you.

SU31 Series with integrated thermostatic controller

SU61 Series with integrated thermostatic controller

The SU31 series has been especially designed for conservatories or any rooms with low windows. In combination with our integrated thermostatic controllers they offer high flexibility for multi-usable rooms.

The SU61 series with integrated controller offer high flexibility (especially in combination with our accessories) and can be used as a stand alone heating system as well as a top-up heating system. It can be used in a small bedroom or bathroom up to combined open living spaces.

Useful InformationThe control unit covers the full range of temperature likely to occur throughout the British Isles. When in use in varying parts of the country, the heaters will not always operate at the lower temperature settings. This is not because of any fault in the unit itself. It just adjusts automatically to the regional/seasonal temperature and chooses not to come on at lower settings unless overridden to higher temperatures. For example the Süka heater will behave differently further to the north of the country which is colder than the southern part in Cornwall.

With the radio frequency control range you can either control the heaters on a room-by-room basis, or create various heating zones or depending on the size of your property, set-up a central heating system. The devices are, if used in association with our range of radio receivers, specially suited for the control of temperatures in individual rooms. They are particularly qualified for application cases in building reconstruction or wherever heating systems are to be extended.

The controllers help to avoid expensive cutting up and/or plaster works for the laying of electric cables and are particularly suited for office storeys or floors where flexibility with regard to the interior design is paramount.

The Süka radio receivers enable, if used in association with Süka radio temperature sensors, to realise the control of temperatures in individual rooms. The receivers are aimed at building reconstruction or heating systems that are to be extended.

Battery change is indicated by a red LED on the transmitter that starts flashing. The required change is also indicated on the display of the radio-controlled time switch at an early stage. In the event of a voltage loss, the restoration of the radio link between the transmitter and the receiver will occur automatically once the power supply is restored.

Heating controllers

The Süka RF clock thermostatic controllers are innovative for room temperature management and control of the radiator’s energy consumption. They are cost-effective and convenient for new builds and retrofitting works. You can choose from our range of remote thermostatic controllers as a completely managed central heating system, individually timed room controls, or for zoning different areas/rooms with master-slave control combinations. Some offer an automatic temperature reduction during the night (by using the eco switch) and others are programmable to heat your home when you are in.

So whatever your lifestyle we can offer the perfect heating control solution.

Programmable controllerThe Süka RF programmable control senses the room temperature and transmits the data via radio signals to the receiver. The operation is very simple through direct select keys for ON / OFF, party mode and the setting of the desired operating mode. The temperature setting knob has a °C scale. Indication of temperature / time (on LED display) in °C or °F (Fahrenheit), summer-/ winter time changeover, child protection, valve protection and self-learning mode (can be deactivated). The Süka RF programmable control is suited as master control for a centrally controlled heating system with various slave controls, alternatively it can also control multiple heaters in a large room.

16

Choosing the right radiator Sizes

The 500 watt, 800 watt, 1.0 kilowatt, 1.5 kilowatt and 1.6 kilowatt radiators are available in one size only in each type. The 1.0 kilowatt and the 1.6 kilowatt are BOTH of the same dimensions. The 2.0 kilowatt radiator is available in four different sizes. The 2.5 kilowatt radiator is available in two different sizes.

The reason for the varying sizes in the larger sized radiators is that a greater surface area is available should there be sufficient wall space to install on. In larger rooms it is always advisable to use the bigger sized radiators. The bigger the radiator in physical size the more efficient it is as the heat is spread on a wider area. There is also an additional benefit of extra lower surface temperatures.

To work out the size of radiator, in kilowatts (kw), needed to heat each room, use the formula below:

Heating load in kW = volume of room x 0.04

For example for a room 3m x 4m x 2.5m high

No. of kW = 3 x 4 x 2.5 x 0.04 = 1.2

(If a room has a north facing outer wall then increase the result by 25%)

Convenience all year round The Süka heaters provide convenience all year round. Weather in the British Isles can sometimes be erratic. In late spring or early autumn for example, when the central heating system does not need to be turned on for the whole house, Süka heaters can come in handy when one or two rooms or even just a conservatory need to be heated. You enjoy the cosy warmth of just one area in the house without firing up a boiler to circulate hotwater all round the property.
