My name is Lucy Petrick and I am currently a junior at Shore-wood High School. This is my second year of taking graphic de-sign classes with Mr. Zimpel. Graphic design is my favorite classbecause you get to be creative. I am very interested in photog-raphy, and graphic arts has allowed me to incorporate picturesthat I’ve taken into my designs. In addition to photography, I amalso interested in music. I love both listening to music and play-ing it. In the fall, I swim for the high school swim team, which Ienjoy a great deal. I also love the outdoors and spend time out-side whenever I can. I plan to continue taking graphic design

mEEt OuR COvER DESIGNER...WElCOmE!

throughout my high school education.

Petrick is a part of Shorewood High School Graphic Design (GD) Program, led byteacher Jeff Zimpel. The program offers introductory, intermediate, and an advancedlevel. Within the courses, students are taught various types of computer software. The upper-level classes are taught in a design studio atmosphere, where clientscome into the classroom in order to brief the student-designers on the project re-quirements. These projects originate both from within the school system and thecommunity at large. Because students may take introductory graphic design asfreshmen, and continue through several levels of advanced graphic design untilgraduation, this program offers an excellent foundation for those who wish to studygraphic design, advertising, or other communications-related fields at the collegelevel.
