A Message from Dr. Al Hambrick
As we close one year and look forward to the next, I want to thank each of you for your continued dedication to our students. Within this brochure, you will find various opportunities that will allow you to enhance your ability to teach our students. Our staff has worked incredibly hard to provide you with these opportunities that directly align to the SISD Vision and Mission. I encourage you to attend trainings that will allow you to continue to engage with our students so that they may achieve at their highest potential. LEARNING,INSPIRING.Sherman ISD is committed to a culture of continued professional learning for all staff. This summer we will offer several opportunities to engage in content-specific and pedagogical training to support you in the delivery of quality instruction for our students. Through campus and district level leadership teams we have built an infographic that embodies what we believe to be Research-based, Proven Effective, Instructional Strategies. These include: Interactive Learning, Metacognition, The Formative Assessment Process and Differentiation. These sound educational strategies are build on the solid foundation that builds positive relationships by making students and staff feel safe, secure and valued as we deliver a guaranteed and viable curriculum to every learner.
We strived to maintain that focus and listen to staff feedback as we put together the array of learning opportunities for Summer Professional Learning 2015. Thank you for your dedication to students and your continued desire to be a lifelong learner. All courses are located in Eduphoria and all classes will be from 8:30-3:30. Two Comp DaysWe have ADDED a second comp day to the calendar for the 2015-2016 school year. SISD Instructional Staff will now have TWO Comp Days. Like prior years, your principal will approve the staff development for your comp days. Each campus principal has the form with the specific guidelines and will work with you to complete it.
*Note to New Hires: All staff development opportunties in the booklet are available to you. If there is a training that you are in need of that has already occured, we will work with you to ensure that your needs are met. Please work with your campus principal to obtain the form with the specific guidelines and the required signatures.
