General InformationSt Catherine’s holiday programs aim to provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can go during the holidays to play, relax and learn new skills.

All our programs are open to students of the school, siblings, boys and girls in the community. We offer a range of programs including multi-activity, sport specific, educational, creative and performing arts programs.

The standard opening hours are from 9am-3.30pm with the main activities on offer from 9.30am. Busy working parents can take advantage of our early and late clubs, no matter what program they are taking, which extend the day from 7.30am-6pm at an additional charge.

EARLY AND LATE CLUBS

(Available all holidays for anyone attending holiday programs).

Balancing family life with holiday programs, work and other commitments can be challenging. We endeavour to support working families that face the challenge of supervising their children outside of the program times by providing early and late clubs at an extra cost. This service operates daily from 7.30-9am and 3.30-6pm. It is important that all children are collected no later than 6pm, otherwise a penalty of $10 for each 15 minutes will be applied to cover staffing costs.

Early Club 7.30am - 9am $18.80

Late Club 3.30pm - 6pm $25.90

Bookings made after 10 December will be charged a $10 late fee

Bookings cannot be made without full payment at the time of booking. All registration details (including special needs, emergency contacts and authorisations) must be completed before bookings can be accepted. Please advise staff in writing of any changes.

There are no refunds, credits or transfers for days booked and paid for without a medical certificate. Refund requests must be made in writing to the Director of Sport and BTC with attached medical certificate, which must be received no later than two weeks after the holiday period.

If a participant is aged 12 years or under they MUST be collected by an adult nominated on the enrolment form. Notice in writing is required if the child is to be collected by

anyone not nominated on the Enrolment Form. Children aged over 12 are allowed to leave unaccompanied, providing a letter is sent with the enrolment form from the parent/guardian giving permission for them to do so.

Program hours are to be strictly adhered to. Please ensure participants arrive, enrol and are collected on time to avoid any late fee. St Catherine’s School reserves the right to cancel programs if there are insufficient enrolments at no cost to the participants.

Everyday ProgramsWeeks 1-5

J4F (JUST FOR FUN)Everyday | Boys and girls aged 5+ 9.30am-3.30pm | $50 a day or $225 for the week (5 days) (Extra $25 charge for excursion day - Wednesdays)

J4F (Just for fun) is a multi-activity program offering a wide range of activities to suit all ages and interests. These activities vary from sports to performing and creative arts and offer girls and boys a great opportunity to try out new activities in a safe environment surrounded by supportive and experienced staff. Our program enhances the develop-ment of skills, knowledge and understanding in physical, social and emotional and intellec-tual areas.Through the fun and exciting experiences that we plan for our students on the Holiday Program, we strive for students to develop positive attitudes towards a physically active lifestyle, nurture relationships with their peers and improve their overall self-esteem and leadership skills. We want to encourage our students to challenge and question the world around them and outside of the class-room setting.

J4F EXCURSIONSOnce a week on a Wednesday, all girls and boys will attend an excursion. There will be an additional charge of $25 on these days which will cover the cost of the activity, transport if needed and an excursion t-shirt for the day. No late bookings for an excursion day will be accepted, please book no later than the Wednesday prior to the excursion. Please note that the excursion is the only J4F option on Wednesdays.

Our tennis camp caters for boys and girls of all abilities and provides young players the opportunity to improve their tennis game, work hard, make new friends and have a lot of fun. Our tennis camps are run by our fun and talented BTC tennis coaches.

Developing healthy habits at a young age can play an extremely important role in living a long, healthy, active and happy life. In our ‘Healthy Habits’ workshops students will start the day with a fun high intensity aerobic workout, prepare a delicious and healthy lunch and wind down with a yoga and meditation session.

Christmas Creations JuniorsTuesday 12 December | Boys and girls aged 8+ | 9.30am – 3.30pm | $65

Christmas time is here, let’s celebrate the festive season by creating our own unique Christmas cards and fun decorations.  Students will unleash their creativity using a range of artistic techniques and materials to create beautiful Christmas inspired craft pieces.  Come and join us for a day of fun and creative Christmas crafting! Limited places available, book early to avoid disappointment.

J4F Excursion – Manly Sea Life Sanctuary

Wednesday 13 December | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am-3.30pm | $75 a day (Please note that the excursion is the only J4F option on Wednesdays)

Join us as we discover Sydney’s amazing sea life at the Manly Sea Life Sanctuary. We will visit the Little Penguins at Penguin cove, ‘Sea Biscuit’, the rescued Green Sea Turtle and see some huge sharks and stingrays at Shark Harbour. We might even be able to touch a shark egg or hold a crab in the rock pool.Limited places available, book early to avoid disappointment.

Junior First Aid and Surf AwarenessThursday 14 December | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am - 3.30pm | $70

As the weather heats up and we embark on a summer full of fun in the sand, surf and sun our Junior First Aid and Surf Awareness workshop will arm students with knowledge and skills to play safely. As part of the workshop we will welcome a trainer form Surf Life Saving NSW to conduct The Australian Lifesaving Academy NSW Junior First Aid course and a Surf Awareness Presentation.

Sweet Treats Christmas EditionFriday 15 December | Boys and girls 5+ | 9.30am – 3.30pm | $65

Does your child have a sweet tooth and love to help out in the kitchen? Our Sweets Treats workshop is an introduction cooking learning about kitchen safety and food preparation and handling as students prepare some simple but delicious Christmas treats. Limited places available, book early to avoid disappointment.

Multi SportsWednesday 13 December | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am - 3.30pm | $65 There’s no boring drills in our Multi Sports workshop. We use a game sense approach so students can learn and refine their skills through a series of modified games to suit the age and skill levels of our participants. Not only is game sense the most fun way to learn skills it also allows students to practice and refine their skills in real game situations. Students will rotate through a series of sessions in a number of sports including but not limited to: AFL, basketball, cricket, soccer, and tennis.

Microscope on Mother Nature

Monday 18 December | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am - 3.30pm | $65

Do you ever wonder why cyclones, tsunami’s, or volcanos occur across the globe? Come along and put the Microscope on Mother Nature to find out more about these natural disasters and why they occur. Students will be involved in a number of experiments that replicate and demonstrate the natural forces that create these marvels of mother nature.

The Master Chef program is a unique opportunity for children interested in cooking to learn the basic skills and techniques needed to embark on a lifetime love of cooking. Participants will learn basics in: kitchen safety, proper food handling, preparation, cooking and baking techniques all organised around a Christmas theme. J4F Excursion – Ferdinand at Event Cinemas, Bondi JunctionWednesday 20 December | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am-3.30pm | $75 a day (Please note that the excursion is the only J4F option on Wednesdays)

We’ll head off with our friends to Event Cinemas, Bondi Junction to see Ferdinand! The story of a loveable bull, with a big heart trying to find his way back home. Join us as we go on the adventure of a lifetime with Ferdinand and friends. Limited places available, book early to avoid disappointment.

Hip Hop Happnin’

Monday 8 January | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am - 3.30pm | $65

Do you love to bust a move? Our Hip Hop Happnin’ workshop will allow students to practice and perfect dance techniques to win any dance battle. Centred around popping and locking to some fun beats, students will explore old school and commercial hip hop to expand their range of skills on the dance floor. Students will also have a friendly dance battle to see who will be crowned the King or Queen of hip hop.

Gymnastics JamberooTuesday 9 January | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am - 3.30pm | $65

Our Gymnastics Jamberoo is for everyone. Our workshops will develop strength, flexibility and co-ordination while building confidence in body movement. The program will comprise a variety of activities including both men’s and women’s artistic and rhythmic gymnastics apparatus and skills.

All aboard as we step back in time at the Australian National Maritime Museum. We’ll

hop on board historical Navy vessels the destroyer HMAS Vampire and

submarine HMAS and a renowned replica of Captain Cook’s HMB Endeavour, browse the award winning interactive kids exhibition Voyage to the Deep and enjoy the Kids on Deck activity space with interactive games, dress-ups and art. Limited places available, book early to avoid disappointment.

Green ThumbsThursday 11 January | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am-3.30pm | $65

If you love to get your hands dirty in the garden, then our Green Thumbs workshop is for you. We will be looking at the natural phenomenon’s that occur in our gardens every day. Students will also have the opportunity to cultivate their green thumbs at home with a friendly new pot plant and care instructions to make sure they grow.

Master Chef

Friday 12 January | Boys and girls aged 7+ | 9.30am-3.30pm | $65

Triple Threat On Set – School of RockMonday 15 January – Wednesday 17 January | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am - 3.30pm | $195 for 3 days (Students must enrol in all three days of the program)

SEEKING: Talented youngsters who were born for the stage. No experience necessary but a passion for singing, dancing and acting is a MUST.

This summer holidays St Catherine’s is proud to present the next instalment in our series of ‘Triple Threat On Set’ workshops which are designed to give students the experience of being on the set rehearsing and starring in a musical theatre performance. Students will work in ensemble groups and participate in a series of fun and energetic workshops to produce their chorus numbers and scenes with our shows director and assistants culminating in a review for parents and friends on the final day. Students will gain skills in singing technique, stage craft, different dance styles and confidence as they strive to become a true ‘Triple Threat’.

This time we will be pushing the boundaries as the coolest kids in the classroom with School of Rock. Come and join us as we prepare for battle of the bands and embrace the powerful message of rock…don’t forget your air guitar!

We’re off to Strike at the Entertainment Quarter! We hope you’re ready to let loose on the lanes, listen to music and have loads of fun! We’ll be playing ten-pin bowling and laser tag, while dancing along to the cool tunes. Come along and join us for a day full of fun, laughs, dancing and hopefully bowl a strike or two! Life in Watercolour MinisThursday 18 January | Boy and girls aged 5-7 | 9.30am-3.30pm | $65

Come along and explore the wonder of watercolour. In the Life in Watercolour workshop students will experiment with watercolours, mixed media and texture to create a beautiful artwork with a nature focus. Students will be encouraged to let their imagination be their guide as they create their own unique and colourful landscape artwork. Limited places available, book early to avoid disappointment.

During a nature walk around the school, we will collect interesting natural objects which will form the composition of our art works. By placing the objects on special light sensitive paper and exposing the paper to sunlight we will create a sun print.  We will incorporate other mediums to create a beautiful finished art work inspired by the elements. Does your child dream of becoming a star? Well our Auditioning 101 workshop might just be for them. Using a series of fun games, activities and audition monologues, students will practice their skills of improvisation, discover and develop their strengths, work on presentation, gain understanding of the importance of stage presence and gain confidence to help them on their path to stardom.

The Monkey Baa Theatre presents – “Slapdash Galaxy”. The story of two brothers Sam and Junior who must flee their planet and embark on an epic quest across the galaxy. We will be joining the brothers on their amazing adventure across the universe and eating lunch overlooking Sydney Harbour. Come and join us for a day full of adventure and fun. Explore The Deep Blue Thursday 25 January | Boys and girls aged 5+ | 9.30am-3.30pm | $65

Have you ever wondered what lurks beneath the Deep Blue? We have, and we’re ready to help you discover who really lives under the sea. Students will be involved in a series of discovery activities and fun games to learn about the ocean, its creatures and determine who will be the ultimate Deep Blue explorer.
