Course overviewHealthcare systems are complex institutions with a wide range of stakeholders. The external political environment, the blurring of professional boundaries, clinical advances, changing expectations and financial constraints combine to provide a complicated and challenging work environment for healthcare managers and clinicians.

This course provides training for healthcare professionals to enable them to understand and address the challenges and evolving needs of our healthcare systems. It introduces the components that make up the healthcare management environment and looks at the context, policies and processes. It is an opportunity to examine the complexities of health policy and management using research-based examples.

Spaces are limited to maximise the interactive nature of the small group teaching.

‘ I particularly liked the opportunity to have time to think through topics such as value based healthcare, which is a top priority in our trust’Clinical Director, SLaM NHS Foundation Trust
