Disciple or Doormat? We live in a nation where Christians have become apathetic (indifferent) to the cause of Christ. We (Christians) have sat back and allowed a number of atrocities to barrage our beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We can cast stones at a number of different targets but the first target must be ourselves for allowing this to happen. It is my belief that as Christian Americans we have lived for so many decades in a nation that for the most part supported actively seeking God for our guidance, provision and protection, that we took it for granted and became complacent. Think about it. I am only 47 years old and if you were to go back and ask the high school aged me if I ever thought that the openly sinful lifestyle of homosexual marriages would become legal in the United States of America…I would have said no way! Yet, here we are in 2015 and homosexual marriages are in fact, legally recognized by our government. Again, I blame first and foremost ourselves (Christians) for allowing this to happen. We have sat on our hands and quietly allowed a massive MINORITY of people to become the tail that wags the dog. But Pastor, “I haven’t been sitting on my hands,” you might say. Well, let me ask this very poignant question then, how many of us have made even one single phone call to any elected official to voice our Christian stance on the matter? I promise the number will be staggeringly low if in fact it is not zero. So, believer, are we going to be a disciple for Christ or a doormat for our sinful culture? The choice is ours. Most, if not all of you will be reading this before our Patriotic Service on July 5 th , so I encourage you to be here and I will talk much more about this. In fact, it very well may be a sermon that will get me arrested in ten years or so if the tide is not turned. Disciple or Doormat? Don’t miss our Patriotic Service!
