40 years of Progress 1974—2014

The Coomba & District Progress Association supports the

development, and wellbeing of Coomba Village and the

surrounding area.

It acts as a focal point and a facilitator for community needs

and aspirations, and supports community members in

achieving these objectives.

This Progress Association is the longest continuously running

in the Great Lakes Shire having been in existence for over 40

years.

The determination and stamina of the original small group of

residents brought electricity, phone and postal services,

which enabled the village to grow.

The continuing efforts of the Progress Association has

brought a lakeside pool, sealed roads, a community hall,

street lighting and many other structural benefits, as well as

supporting more than 30 other organisations within the

village.

The spirit of this original group remains embedded within

the Community, bringing the warmth and comradeship

enjoyed in this picturesque lakeside paradise.

Each volunteer allocates a group to receive their share of the day’s

takings for their work in the café on that day. The money is paid to

the groups on an annual basis at a Progress and District Association

meeting
