Reception To Follow In The
School Hall
Celebrating 50 Years On April 13th of this year it will be exactly 50 years to the date that I said my first Mass at Little Flower Church at 80th and Wood Street on the south side of Chicago. Unlike me, it is no longer in existence. On Sunday, April 13th of this year, I will celebrate my 50th anniversary at the 10:30 am Mass. I hope that some of you whose lives I may have touched in some way would join me then. There will be a reception in the school hall immediately following the Mass. Please come and say hello. Kind words, verbal or written, are most appreciated. Mail complaints to the Pastor. I know it is a cliché but, honestly, your presence is the only gift I need. My ego is more in need of stroking than my bank account is in need of growing. Here is a short summary of my Priestly journey. 1 St. Basil on Garfield Blvd - 1958 - 1964. It is no longer standing but I still
have a brick thanks to Bob Twardak. 2 Holy Name Cathedral - 1964 - 1966. At least nothing was falling from the
ceiling when I was there (It is presently closed for repairs). 3 Niles College Seminary - 1966 - 1980. Once at Harlem & Touhy, but now it
is St. Joseph on the Campus of Loyola University. Again, I have a brick to remind me I was once the Dean of Students and taught Political Science.
4 St. Hilary - Bryn Mawr and California - Administrator and Pastor from 1980 - 1984. I hated to leave the heated garage.
5 St. Cajetan - 112th and Artesian - 1984 - 1992. This is the home of the once children who started the South side Irish parade and Mass. Yes, I did march in kilts. They no longer fit.
6 St. Benedict - Blue Island and Robbins - 1992 - 1996. I learned a few words in Spanish, but I was a big hit in Robbins.
7 St. Juliana - 1997 - 2008. I won’t leave here until they carry me out or Fa-ther Steve fires me. Boy, am I glad I gave him an A in Political Science in the Seminary.
Like many of our parishioners I also had a number of side jobs. I was the Vocation Director of the Archdiocese for six years. I was involved with the Radio and Televi-sion department of the Archdiocese for a number of years. Actually, I was the director for a while, but a woman really ran the office. My claim to fame is I re-ceived a local Emmy in 1983 as part of a Channel 2 News Team covering the installation of Cardinal Bernardin, as the Archbishop of Chicago. For fifteen years I was the Chaplain of the Chicago Serra Club that promoted voca-tions. I quit when their convention went back to Philadelphia for the second time. I even have a letter appointing me a Port Chaplain to Navy Pier. Unfortunately the place was practically a dump at the time. The Ferris Wheel came much later. I did not list the mistakes and blunders I made because those are between the Lord and me. All in all it has been a great ride. I hope the good Lord gives me a few more years in your midst, at least for long weekends. God Bless, Father Roger
Congratulations to Father Carl Morello,
Pastor of St. Paul of the Cross, as he celebrates the 25th Anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.

Donating Merchants & Monetary Benefactors
Thank You...Thank You…
On Sunday, March 9th, St. Juliana Parish celebrated our St. Joseph Table. It was a wonderful event shared by many, with a delicious dinner and a gathering of friends for a festive celebration - a celebra-tion of love and a great tribute to St. Joseph. The St. Joseph Table is totally funded by donations. We thank ALL who contributed restaurant entrees, bread, baked goods, flow-ers, supplies, services, music, monetary donations, etc. to make this event possible. St. Juliana Parish shares the success of the St. Joseph Table. Members of our St. Vincent de Paul Society picked up and delivered all remain-ing food to St. Mary of Providence Home and St. Stanislaus Kostka soup kitchen. Monetary donations will be distributed to those in need in our parish. So much good comes from this event. Please patronize the merchants and monetary benefactors for their donations and support. Their kind-ness enables the tradition of the St. Joseph Table to continue. Thank you and God Bless you. Sincerely, The St. Joseph Table Committee
