Tomoko Mukaiyama is a Dutch-Japanese pianist, performer and visual artist based in Amsterdam. She has been engaged by many prestigious orchestras and ensembles throughout the world, like the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, the London Sinfonietta and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, among many others.

As a multi-modal artist she develops performing arts projects and art installations that combine music with modern dance, fashion and visual art. Tomoko often uses autobiographi-cal elements in her work, and by means of several media she converts and sublimates these autobiographical elements into universal themes, communicating with her audience on an intimate level.

Japanese-Korean Jija Sohn studied Applied Linguistics in the USA before deciding to change direction and focus on perfor-mance art. In 2015, she graduated from the School of New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam and was the first choreographer to be selected for the Moving Forward process. In 2017 Jija Sohn was selected for the ‘3package deal’, enabling her to work on her –slightly autobiographic- new piece. In Kyabajo (2018), she enlarges the Japanese hostess, and by doing this dives deeper into questions regarding identity and empowerment. In her work, Jija Sohn investigates how cultural diversity can be transformed into a universal value. She is interested in the moment at which different realities violently collide. Description: The modern obi of Kyoko Kimono are made from classic Japanese obi Kyoko collect throughout Japan. Each obi has its own rich history: ceremonies, weddings and parties for example. Some of the original obi are very old.

She carefully disassemble the original obi and by folding the fabric Origami style Kyoko Kimono recreates it in a modern form. The result is an obi enjoying both the traditional spirit and contemp-orary form.
