SUPERCATS AND THE BADGER
Biography Supercats and the Badger is an Italian-American trio
formed when the three band members met upon Mike’s return to Italy
from NYC where he spent most of his youth: Mike Nash (guitar and
vocals), Marco Tassoni (bass) and Claudio Testoni (drums).
The band’s name originates from a mix of two of Mike’s favourite
genres: blues and funk. During the seventies, the word super was a
common adjective for describing the funky world. On the other hand
Mike feels that the word cat symbolizes the blues since the feline
is known for its cool blues nature. Badger comes from the bass
player's nickname.
The band’s sound incorporates genres like Rock, Funk, Blues and
Pop; cool 70’s guitar riffs along side funky synth atmospheres.
SC&TB has a great history of touring and they have played on
various stages around Italy.
In 2012 they published their first album, Supercats and the
Badger. At the beginning of 2015 they began a collaboration with
Maestro Massimo Zanotti, a musician and composer, who has worked
together with some of the greatest artists on the Italian scene:
Baglioni, Celentano, Renato Zero, Nek, just to mention a few. This
collaboration leads straight to the creation of their new album
Time Machine where we can find significant featurings like the one
in Morning Light with Federico Poggipollini (Liftiba, Ligabue) who
adds an engaging riff and solo to the song. The album also has
other featurings by Massimo Zanotti, Placido Salamone, Sara
Zaccarelli and Davide Ghidoni.
Time Machine will be released in July 2016 and it is produced by
Areasonica Records, which has planned an International release in
both Europe and USA.

This is how the Supercats and The Badger define their last
recording work: Time Machine. The twelve songs that compose the
soundtrack of the album represent a fusion among musical genres: a
mix of funky, rock and blues, with some recalls to the vast world
of pop music. The pieces of Time Machine move across common topics,
such as the importance of pursuing our own passions and the
perseverance through which it is possible to reach our
predetermined goals. The music of the album is created and produced
by Mike, together with the bassist Marco Tassoni (the Badger) and
the drummer Claudio Testoni and is influenced by the American
origins of the frontman. Moreover, the album is characterised by a
high quality production and meaningful collaborations: from the
arrangements of Massimo Zanotti and Placido Salamone (who play
respectively the trombone and the guitar), to the cooperation with
Federico Poggipollini (Litfiba, Ligabue), the participation of the
singer Sara Zaccarelli and of the musician Davide Ghidoni, playing
the trumpet.
