TAMPA PALMS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

From your Principal, MS. Lippek

Dear Families,

During the months of March and April we will enter into the season of important stand-ardized testing. Our teachers and students have worked hard all year to prepare for this opportunity to show what we know. On testing days it is especially important that your child arrive to school on time, is well rested, and eats a good breakfast either at home or at school. On testing nights, you may want to consider reducing extra-curricular night events so that your child is ready to “shine” during testing.

FSA Testing Dates:

Feb. 29-April 15- FSAA for our grade 3-5 ESE

students on alternative assessment

March 1- FSA Writing for grades 4 and 5

March 29-April 8- FSA Reading and Math.

Grade 3 will take Reading and Grades 3 & 4

will take Math.

March 31-April 12- SAT-10 for grades 1 and 2

April 11-May 6- FSA Reading for grades 4 & 5

(computer based test) and FSA Math for

grade 5 (computer based)

April 13-14- FSA Science for grade 5

April 13- SAT Reading Comprehension for

grade 3

Testing begins right after the tardy bell. For this reason, it is important that your child is at school and in the classroom by 8:00. You will want to give your child enough time to get ready for testing. On testing days, we have no movement in the hallways and vol-unteers are limited to after testing (around 11:30). There will be revised lunch and spe-cials schedules on testing days. Please note that if you are wanting to have lunch with your child, you will not be able to come until

after testing is completed (11:30). You may want to consider having lunch with your child on a non-school testing day. Spring Break: Spring Break will be Monday, March 14- Fri-day, March 18. We hope you enjoy this time with your family. District STEM Fair News: Tampa Palms is very proud of our represent-

2 March 2016

Dear TPE Families, Spring is just around the corner and our school year is flying by. We kicked off February with our annual Spring Fundraiser. I am happy to report that we are exceeding our goal and have been able to approve the purchase of 12 laptop computers for our teachers. We are advancing our school’s technology and hope-fully within the next couple of years ALL of our teachers will have access to their own laptop computer. This will help them achieve even more greatness for our children. We hope the children are having fun with their Penguin key-chains, as this was another great prize given to each child that participated. Don’t forget, families that raise more than $200 will be invited to a special celebration on March 28th. Our next Spirit Night is scheduled for Thursday, March 3rd (all day!) at Papa John’s. Don’t forget to mention our school for fundraising. Come out and be a part of the fun! Our next All Pro Dads is set for Friday, March 11th in the cafete-ria. Lastly, our PTA Board has several openings for the 2016-2017 school year. Our nominating committee will be collecting infor-mation from anyone who would like to be a part of our exciting team. If you choose to be a part of the PTA, you will be an inte-gral part of a team that makes decisions, plans events, and raises funds for our school.

The PTA is a TEAM effort. We would not be able to accomplish our primary goal, to support our wonderful school, without the dedicated volunteers in our Tampa Palms’ PTA. Please consider volunteering your time to support our school! The nominating committee is busy slating nominations for the following vacant positions on the board: * President (oversees entire PTA) * VP Membership (oversee membership campaign) * VP Ways & Means (oversee fundraising efforts) * VP Academics (oversees outreach and tutoring programs) * VP Service (oversees on campus hospitality) * Corresponding Secretary (oversees communication) A flyer will be sent home in the upcoming weeks detailing each of the PTA positions. Enjoy your Spring Break! Shay Edinger TPE PTA President [email protected] (813)426-7288

From your PTA President

Our Spring Fundraiser has been extended and will run until March 4. Keep in mind that a purchase from their catalog brings 50% proceeds to our school. Online orders will bring in 40% back to our school. And a tax free donation gives 100% proceeds to our school! Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 which will go directly to your child’s technology equipment. You might have the chance to win a ROBOTIC MINION and if your family raises more than $200.00 you will be invited to celebrate at our very special Fundraiser Party on March 28! Teachers will have great incentives by bringing in the most orders.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
