WHAT DO VISION AND MATS MEAN TO ME?

Our Vision

We are a faith family that is Inviting, Connecting and Equipping people to know their risen Savior.

What does this vision mean to you?

What will Ministry Action Teams (MATs) mean to you?

Look at it this way. Our Ministry Staff will help you learn how to lovingly invite family members, friends, neighbors and work colleagues to consider being involved in your CONNECT GROUP, the Chancel Choir, Cornerstone, our Golf League, or to attend a worship service. They will also help you live in concert with a Biblical lifestyle so that others see Jesus in you.

Ministry Action Teams will become our primary way to do everything from Children’s Church, VBS, Cambodia, Youth Group and all activities that serve others. A MAT is a group of from 3 to 5 people, plus volunteers who are passionate about a specific ministry.

May God poor out His Holy Spirit on all of us as we work as a local body to invite, connect and equip people to know their Risen Savior.

In Jesus’ Service, Ray Purinton

President of the Congregation

SUNDAY SCHOOL IS HAPPENING HAVE YOU SIGNED UP TO HELP?

We have a few dates open that we need help teaching our kids “The Story”.

Look for the sign up sheet by the Children’s Kiosk in the West Wing.

Please pray about this and talk with Terri Miller if you can serve in this way.

THE STORY CONTINUES THROUGH THE SUMMER

Summer Campaign: The Story – the New Testament

Follow Jesus through His ministry and the beginnings of the Christian Church.

How would you sum up the main message that Jesus had for the people?

How would you sum up Paul’s message? The other Apostles?

Not in a group this summer? Join one now or participate in a personal study with resources online at www.rslc.org Click on “Connect” and “Connect Group Resources”.

EQUIPPING FOR THE FUTURE... ARE YOU READY?

When people rent an apartment they sometimes choose to rent a "fully furnished" apartment. It comes with kitchen appliances, living room and bedroom furniture, and washer and dryer. All you need to do is bring your personal items, such as clothes, linens and towels. It wouldn't do much good to move into an empty apartment: the space is not enough – it needs the equipment to fulfill its purpose.

So too God doesn't want us to be ill equipped to fulfill our purpose.

The church's job is to make sure you have what you need. To that end, Risen Savior Lutheran Church will have a very intentional equipping program entitled, "Think, Act, Be, Like Jesus."

This campaign has a very specific purpose and goal. It is important for you to learn how to think, act and be like Jesus. What is different about this series of topics is that we not only want you to think, act and be like Jesus but to be able to help others to do the same. The Word of God will come to you and then be passed through you to others.

Please sign up for a Connect Group so that you can be fully furnished to do the Lord's will as you. "Think, Act, Be Like Jesus."

In Christ, Philip Cameron

Senior Pastor

Page 4 Despite confessing Jesus to be the Christ and witnessing the transfiguration, Peter continued to struggle to be faithful. What miracles has God done in your life that you sometimes forget?

"He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ". Each of us has been created by God for work in His Kingdom. So he completely furnishes us with the tools to do the task. “

Ephesians 4:11-12

Fall Campaign: Think, Act, Be Like Jesus

The Bible teaches that the goal of the Christian life is to become like Jesus for our own personal growth and for the sake of others.

Every believer needs to ask three big questions:

What do I believe? What should I do?

Who am I becoming? Join us in September as we unpack the revolutionary dream of Jesus.

We’ll explore how our lives fit into the big picture of what God is doing in the world as we grasp the vision of Christian life

and get started on this journey of discipleship.

If you could go back in time and be an eyewitness to the Sermon of the Mount or Page 5 experience any one of His miracles first hand, which would you choose and why? .

JOIN RISEN SAVIOR VOLUNTEER PUPPET (RSVP) MINISTRY

Children are welcomed, accepted and loved through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We Are Called to Serve… Is GOD calling you to SERVE?

It is such a privilege to serve God’s Children – join us in serving God’s children by

joining in the Children’s Ministry of JESUS LITTLE LIGHTS, SON SEEKERS and IGNITE56

Risen Savior does Sunday School a different way with the same Biblical Truths. We will have Sunday School every Sunday throughout the SUMMER! Please remember to bring your children to Sunday school when you are in town.

Come and check out the Jesus Little Lights program in the Early Education west wing at 9:20 a.m. Experience Bubba and Albie (our wonderful puppets) and hear the large group presenter tell the little ones the Bible Event for the day. Once you see this program in action you will want to become involved. I think one of the best things about this ministry is seeing the children learn how to pray. Often we have 5 year olds praying and expressing concern for the people in their lives and praying for them with an incredible open and sincere heart. We are seeking Ministry Partners for the fall.

Son Seekers is the program for 1st – 4th grade – Gordie and Judy tell the Bible Events in the large group session – these kids have so much fun. Search your heart and see if these jobs meet your gifts and talents – check the web site for a job descriptions.

Ignite 56 is the 5th and 6th grade program this happens downstairs where the kids are taught Bible Events and how they APPLY to them. Small Group, Large Group, Small Group is the format for this program, a presenter presents the Bible Event and the small groups then discuss what has happened and how it applies to them. Is God calling you to serve 5th and 6th graders?

Terri Miller would love to tell you more about this program. Contact her through the church office 303-469-3521

CAN YOU BE A FALL MINISTRY PARTNER? PRAY ABOUT IT!

Raise your hand and help children get enthused about Jesus!

The puppet ministry will begin on Thursday evenings in the fall.

We will have a parent and puppeteer meeting on August 20th at 6:30 p.m.

Come and find out what is expected for puppeteers and parents.

We are looking for puppeteers from 5th grade and beyond. We are also looking for adults to assist Mrs. Terri in leading and directing this puppet ministry.

Please get in touch with Mrs. Terri through the church office if you are interested in helping with this wonderful and fun ministry and if you are interested in

becoming a puppeteer.

We need all kinds of helpers, people who love to build props, technical people, creative people and people who love to be on their knees!

DFL DIARY: REFLECTIONS ON TUESDAYS TERRIFIC TRIP Day one: All went mostly smooth for a first day. Parents, and counselors and program were ready. The Gold mine and the Echo Lake exploration that did not reach the top of Mt. Evens, went well considering the roads were still closed due to snow. Nobody fell, jumped or was pushed into the fast running Clear Creek. Great day, until we found the traffic jam on I-70 and the 2.5 hour hold-up. Yet kids kept saying, I can’t wait to be here next week. A good day for leaders and youth, but not so good for parents waiting for our return.

Dear Lord, why do we have roadblocks in our life? What am I to learn here? Thank you for the connections the bouncing boys had in the van this day. Kevin

Day two: It’s Sports Day, and we have a great group. Lord, please don’t let the traffic be a challenge again, help us get back in a timely manner.

First stop, Pepsi Center. Did you know that just inches under the basketball court is a hockey rink? The new Nugget’s Coach press conference is happening today. We were able to see the Tri-outs with new players on the practice court. Two and a half miles into the walk and the students are going strong. We were blessed with a

great tour guide, Gary. Next stop, Coors Field after lunch, we were able to peer into the Rockies locker room through their dugout. “Nice!” What? The Air force Academy has paratroopers landing on the field? Walt, our tour guide had to stop his talk for a few moments. I guess they are practicing for July 4 activities. The youth have walked 5 miles and are going strong. They always have a great tour. Mile High Field is our next challenge. Lord, thank you for the endurance they reflected and which you sustained. The game-suites are now looking much like the other venues. The older kids seem to be tired and slowing down… but our 6th grade boys are happy to see more. Seven and a half miles later… we board the van for an ice cream treat.

Dear Lord, I praise you for feet that walk, hands that herd people, eyes to see the interworkings of an organization, and a youth counselor that praises and encourages tired students. The lesson today goes to appreciate all the people that work so hard for our entertainment. Lord, may these centers never replace our love and worship of you. Your grateful servant, Kevin.

“Oh, no roadblocks today. We were back in time!”

Your Director of Family Life, DCE Kevin Hischke

HAVE YOU HEARD THE QUESTION? Should I attend Youth Group?

Well, if you are a youth… of course. Why, because we challenge, love and care for youth at Risen Savior. If you are unsure, bring a friend and bring your support. If you need a challenge to touch the lives of God’s people, we make connections here. When students gather at youth group friendships grow.

If you are an adult… yes, if you want a work-out. Smart youth ask questions to get smarter.

All youth are active, and they touch many lives. If you can’t always keep up, you can always

keep youth in prayers. You may be the Christian Role Model a youth would need.

THANK YOU TO LEADERS OF YOUTH

June has been a busy month for the youth at Risen Savior. While students have family trips, they have church events to choose from as well.

The Fourth Annual Volleyball Tournament sent two teams and counselors to Beautiful Savior to see a total of eight teams. This followed a rainy Mall Scavenger Hunt; a night to remember!

Tuesday Terrific Trips started with great help from parents and counselors.

The High School youth continue to meet Wednesday’s for personal growth, games and group building.

The District Youth Gathering sent Risen Savior students to learn, worship, serve and Collide with God’s plans to shape our lives and challenge our minds.

These activities do not happen without the leadership and assistance of the Youth Board, Kelly Johnson, LeeAnn Coburn, Shelia Scott, Kerri Blaes and Lou Vergara. Dedicated leaders and counselors, Ashleigh

Cooper and LeeAnn Coburn for Middle School, and Kyle Blaes, Sarah Mulgharbil, and Jeremy Hansen for High School. Also we are in debt to the parents that help whenever needed, Debbie Anderson, Mary Boyle, and Martha Hischke. I also appreciate the church staff that help communications and details, Lynda Kluth, Gladys Sweetwood, Robin Duclos and Colleen Martchenke.

While many parents are actively involved with the spiritual growth of our students it would be right to also recognize the leaders in the middle school and high school departments at Risen Savior. The middle school has been lead for 7 years by Shauna and Eric Deines who recently retired and went to Disneyland. Diana Heyde is now the new middle school leader. The love of sharing Jesus with students thrives in the hands of our four dedicated teachers: Bill Martchenke, LeeAnn Coburn, Charlotte Cooper, and Martha Hischke. What is interesting is the commitment of this group; three of the four teachers are not parents of High School students.

Ministry in Jamestown, Colorado

Habitat for Humanity

Ministry around the world

Have you ever experienced starving for food? Over 17,000 children die of malnutrition, starvation or hunger related diseases in one day. Kids Against Hunger's mission is to "significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed God’s starving children throughout the world." Scientist from General Mills, Pillsbury, Cargill, and ADM have developed a food package that contains 6 nutritious meals that can be easily packaged and sent to areas in need of the food.

Risen Savior Lutheran Church has joined Kids Against Hunger in the fight to reduce the number of hungry children by having groups from our congregation go to the site in Broomfield to package meals that are then sent to countries in need of the food. Risen Savior’s Board of Mission and Outreach has decided to continue this outreach.

Date: August 8 is Risen Savior’s date Time: 10:00 a.m. and work until 12:00 p.m. Location: Broomfield location at 6901 W. 117th St. Unit #10, Broomfield, CO 80020. Our goal is to have 40 to 50 adults and children (children need to be 7 years of age or over) and to package a pallet of food which is 33 boxes, 7,128 meals. The pallet that we pack will be sent to Nepal - an area that was recently devastated by a series of earthquakes. In order to send that pallet of food, we need $1,650 to cover the food and packaging materials.

Be the Blessing:

We need adults and children to sign up to help. This is a good mission project for Connect Groups. It is also a great way to volunteer with your family and teach your kids to reach out to others in need. Please sign up at the Information Center.

We need to raise $1,650 by August 8. When you think of providing meals to those in need for around $.25 a meal, it's an affordable way to feed over 7,000 people.

Please make checks payable to Risen Savior Lutheran Church with Kids Against Hunger (KAH) in the Memo line. Please pray for God's guidance in your participation in this project. If you have further questions, call Pat Stoehr through the church office.
