The Challenge

- www.standict.eu - @Stand_ICT

1.4Million€ funding forexpertstosupport

standardisationactivities

More bodies and organisations are involved in ICT standard setting around theworld risking fragmentation of standard setting processes along national lines, and further barriers to common standardsImproved cooperation, deeper involvement of EU specialists, increased focus isneeded to ensure EU's priorities and DSM perspectives are sufficientlyrepresented in the entire spectrum of organisations

StandICT.eu CSAObjectives in a nutshell: Support the participation of European experts in international ICT standardisation activitiesand ensuring promotion of European requirements and interests (based on European R&D results, support to PPP's,Rolling Plan for ICT Standardisation, bi-lateral agreements with 3rd countries…)Topics: ICT standardisation priorities for the Digital Single Market (5G, Data, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, IoT)as well as the sectors where they will have an impact (i.e. digitisation of European Industry, eHealth, intelligenttransport systems, smart energy,…)

Lessons Learned

We engaged a high quality community:

1st Open Call: only 10 out of 60 scored below the quality threshold (mark 6)2nd Open Call: only 7 out of 53 scored below the quality threshold (mark 6)

As a result, many of the “not-accepted” applications are still valuable and very likely to succeed if slightly improved and submitted in the coming calls.

High expectations on impact of funded proposals: StandICT.eu managed to receive projects from people who’s truly experienced in the Standardisation field and with proven track record.

Good coverage of StandICT.eu priorities (also beyond the Rolling Plan to cover emerging technologies)

We need to specifically target Central and Eastern European countries and, in general, lessrepresented MSs

Easy-to-use Online Platform for Researchers, SMEs, Organisations: blueprint for similar initiatives with cascading grants.
