After graduating high school the college thing just didn't work out for me. I had a low attention span and to be honest, at the time, school just wasn’t doing it for me. My father, who’s real old school and had to care of 5 younger sisters from the time he was 12, told me when I was around 13, “David when you turn 18 you’re out on your own so you’d better start figuring things out.” I knew he wasn’t messing around, he was a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps and he was always on the NO BS side of things when he sat me down and had his talk. So after college didn’t work out I had to hit the road. I went to my aunt’s house in Reno Nevada and was working odd jobs. After several months I thought I can’t be doing this forever. So I bought a one way Greyhound bus ticket back to the Riverside area and joined the Navy. Dad always said you won’t be able to handle the Marine Corps. If you ever decide to join, go Navy. Their training schools are the best. It’s his way of keeping a proud stance with the Marine Corps while recommending the Navy. Plus, the Marine Corps is a department of the Navy so he knew the schools were good. I was really enjoying the experience of being in the Navy on a small boat of 500 people in Japan for several years. One evening around 7:30 we were doing training operations in the middle of the Indian Ocean. I was heading up the ladder (stairs) back to my work space when I felt the ladder shake real hard for 10 secs and I also heard a loud rumbling sound underneath like something banging the ships hull. Then the alarm sounded. “This is not a Drill. This is not a Drill. All hands man your battle stations.” My heart stopped!! I’ve heard that over the PA several hundreds times, but it was always a drill. Then I heard someone yell we were hit by a bomb!! This is something like you see in the movie: the light turns red, alarms go crazy and everyone run to their designated spaces. Mine was all the way toward the back of the ship. I hightailed it to my space. To get to my space I have to exit out of the ship. As I swung open the door, it was pitch black outside. I was scared because I thought, “What side of the ship was hit?!! So can I walk outside to man my station?” Needless to say I hung onto the door with my feet up and after it swung open I lowered my feet down slowly. I don't know why but when you’re panicking things seem to be in some kind of slow motion. I lowered my foot trying to find the deck — it seemed like it took forever to find solid ground. After finding solid metal decking I ran without thinking the rest of the way to my space in the dark. I don't even remember how I got there but I made it. We had a fire break out on board, which is very scary. You and the people you work with have to put it out. No fire truck was coming to save us. This was an experience in my life I will never forget, especially when I opened the hatch (door) to go outside in the dark. I thought to myself, “I’m going to fall off this ship!!” :KHUH WKH %RPE KLW XV Hawaiian South Shore Your Surf Boutique For the Finicky Surfer and Clothing Junkie

I’m going to fall off this ship!!!After graduating high school the

college thing just didn't work out for

me. I had a low attention span and to

be honest, at the time, school just

wasn’t doing it for me.

My father, who’s real old school and had

to care of 5 younger sisters from the

time he was 12, told me when I was

around 13, “David when you turn 18

you’re out on your own so you’d

better start figuring things out.”

I knew he wasn’t messing around, he

was a Master Gunnery Sergeant in

the Marine Corps and he was always

on the NO BS side of things when he

sat me down and had his talk.

So after college didn’t work out I had to

hit the road. I went to

my aunt’s house in

Reno Nevada and

was working odd

jobs. After several

months I thought I

can’t be doing this

forever.

So I bought a one

way Greyhound bus

ticket back to the

Riverside area and

joined the Navy. Dad

always said you won’t

be able to handle the

Marine Corps. If you ever decide to

join, go Navy. Their training schools

are the best. It’s his way of keeping a

proud stance with the Marine Corps

while recommending the Navy. Plus,

the Marine Corps is a department of

the Navy so he knew the schools were

good.

I was really enjoying the experience of

being in the Navy on a small boat of

500 people in Japan for several years.

One evening around 7:30 we were

doing training operations in the

middle of the Indian Ocean. I was

heading up the ladder (stairs) back

to my work space when I felt the ladder

shake real hard for 10 secs and I also

heard a loud rumbling sound underneath

like something banging the ships hull.

Then the alarm sounded. “This is not a

Drill. This is not a Drill. All hands man

your battle stations.” My heart stopped!!

I’ve heard that over the PA several

hundreds times, but it was always a drill.

Then I heard someone yell we were hit

by a bomb!! This is something like you

see in the movie: the light turns red,

alarms go crazy and everyone run to

their designated spaces. Mine was all

the way toward the back of the ship.

I hightailed it to my space. To get to my

space I have to exit out of the ship.

As I swung open the door,

it was pitch black outside.

I was scared because I

thought, “What side of the

ship was hit?!! So can I

walk outside to man my

station?” Needless to say I

hung onto the door with my

feet up and after it swung

open I lowered my feet

down slowly. I don't know

why but when you’re

panicking things seem to

be in some kind of slow

motion. I lowered my foot

trying to find the deck — it seemed like

it took forever to find solid ground.

After finding solid metal decking I ran

without thinking the rest of the way to

my space in the dark. I don't even

remember how I got there but I made it.

We had a fire break out on board, which

is very scary. You and the people you

work with have to put it out. No fire truck

was coming to save us.

This was an experience in my life I will

never forget, especially when I opened

!Shaped in Hawaii —> Save $150!!!

Last month Bill Stewart flew out here to Hawaii and shaped a bunch of boards, the most popular one being the RedLine 11. Its pretty much a long board that does it all. ONLY comes in one length 9’0” it Turns like an 8’6,” Paddles like a 9’6.” Noserides like a 10’0.” If you want something smaller he has The FunLine 11 sizes are 7’0”, 7’6” and 8’0 Only. I know the chart he has on his website and we’ve placed it on the boards in the shop is hard to understand at first. To be honest I

didn't understand it in the beginning so I laid it out so hopefully you can have a better understanding of it. Just to let you know the boards were shaped here so they are about $150 cheaper than getting it from the mainland.
