Results
• 188 U.S. planes were destroyed and more than 3400 military personnel were killed in this attack.
• The US declared war on Japan, entering World War II.
World Trade Center
• The first two planes flew directly into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center.
Pentagon
• The third plane flew into Pentagon and smashed one wing of the government’s military headquarters.
Flight 93
• The fourth plane, Flight 93, went down in Pennsylvania. The passengers kept the plane from being used to crash into the White House.
Effects
• Almost 3000 people died in this attack.
• President Bush and the US Congress went to war in Afghanistan, where Al Qaeda was based.
Responsible Person
• The leader of Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden was responsible for this attack.
• Bin Laden was finally killed by US special forces in Pakistan.
