CURRENT SCENARIO

Sustainable Development was formally initiated for theinternational community since the 1992 UN Conference onEnvironment and Development (UNCED), which called upongovernments to develop strategies for sustainable development,incorporating policy measures outlined in the Rio Declarationand Agenda 21.

CURRENT SCENARIO

Sustainable Development was formally initiated for theinternational community since the 1992 UN Conference onEnvironment and Development (UNCED), which called upongovernments to develop strategies for sustainable development,incorporating policy measures outlined in the Rio Declarationand Agenda 21.

Governments wish to implement such strategies, but thenthere are continuing battle between economic andenvironmental concerns associated with the development.

GLOBAL PROTOCOL

Not just the Rural but also the Urban Development which spread the best practices as success stories.

Rapid growth has had an impact on everything around including air and water. Mitigating and repair technologies are plenty and are differently aligned in different areas like carbon capture and storage systems, household water purification devices, more efficient irrigation methods and processes to minimize waste and pollution.

Develop curriculums to train executing agencies. And provide training materials to educate local regulatory government officials.

Develop programs to build the capacity of local communities to be able to read and monitor the conditions through simple indicators, to enable them to implement the models and approaches identified by best practices.

SECTORAL BARRIERS

With the absence of legal framework, it is difficult to bring processesto action, technologies are either not developed at all for lack of a sufficientlyprofitable market, or if developed, are not accessible to end-user needs. Toomany Action Plans to follow, not a single one that works.

Immediate steps are essential for the protection of the Nature. Theprimary function of such attempts is to help stakeholders, for natureconservation and protection. The government should have the will power toevict those who have made damages. States do not have provisions forprotection, a lot more needs to be arranged to conserve the environment.

The Planning Commission has suggested reworking the National Action Plan onclimate change.It has reduced the number of missions and refocused them in line with"priorities".In 2008, the government had laid out a national strategy that would addressIndia's development concerns and the challenges that climate change wouldpresent.The National Action on Climate Change comprising eight missions was presentedas framework to deal challenges of mitigation or reducing emission intensity ofthe economy and adapting to the adverse consequences of climate change.The eight missions covered issues such as solar energy energy efficiency, habitat,agriculture, water, Himalayan ecosystems, forestry and strategic knowledge.

GOVERNMENTS SHOULD SEEK RESULTS, REVOLUTIONISE

Meet requirements at stakeholder level to meet compliance requirements. Otherwise array of brainstorming and matrix of data and detailed processes in charts shall all go a waste.

ULBs. Provide FAR / FSI Benefits on green constructions.

Town Planning. Promote vernacular materials, after educating through Master Plans.
