What is Swaddled Bathing?
*This is not swaddled bathing
What is Swaddled Bathing?
Bathing your baby while he remains swaddled in a blanket and is immersed into water that covers his entire body
except his head and neck.
But why do need to incorporate this in our practice?

Setting up the Bath The supplies:
DandleLION Tub
Plastic bag insert
Hammock/sling
“Bitty blanket”
Peri-bottle
Graduate/cylinder full of water
Hospital approved soap
Soft sponges / wash cloth
Hat and clothing
Insert the plastic bag
1” hangs over edge should touch all sides of tub for thermometer to read correctly
Place the hammock/sling around the tub
The elastic band goes around the end of the tub lengthwise. side with tags and darts is the bottom of tub.

Water temperature should be 101˚
(101˚ is between 100 and 102˚)

Getting the baby ready *take pre-post temperature
• Remove all clothes and disconnect baby from monitors
• Swaddle lightly in bitty blanket

Wash hair last to promote thermoregulation
*use water set aside in peri-bottle or cylinder to wash hair

• Lift the baby to the dry and warm blanket draped across bathers chest and gently dry.

• Take the baby’s temperature within 10 min of leaving the tub
Clean up
Clean up • Throw away the plastic bin liner
• hammock/sling and bitty blanket should be placed in the "Special Linen“
hamper for commercial laundry- cannot be laundered domestically
• Wipe down the tub with Sani wipe
• Store at baby’s bedside in your unit’s designated location
• Tubs are for use with one baby only and to be kept with that baby
