• Swimming  world  brings  you  all  the  latest  news  and  stories  regarding  aqua<c  sports.  

• It  brings  you  coverage  of  aqua<c  compe<<ons  and  also  shows  you  

the  results  from  the  events.    • This  par<cular  magazine  is  also  

filled  with  various  <ps  and  techniques  to  aid  and    help  it’s  consumers  to  become  beFer  

swimmers  and  improve  their  skills  including  <ps  for  different  strokes.  • It  is  an  American  magazine  and  

has  been  running  successfully  from  January  1960  to  the  present  and  is  said  to  be  the  World’s  leading  independent  resource  for  swimming  since  1960.

Who  is  this  magazine  targeted  at?    

• This  magazine  is  targeted  or  aimed  at  people  who  are  considered  athle<c    and  specifically  is  aimed  at  those  who  swim  and  take  part  in  aqua<c  sports  or  either  those  who  enjoy  following  aqua<c  sports  and  have  an  interest  in  

swimming.      • I  believe  this  magazine    is  aimed  at  both  people  who  are  new  to  swimming  and  professionals  as  the  magazine  contains  <ps  and  techniques  in  order  to  improve  the  consumers  skills  at  swimming,  including  lis<ng  different  <ps  in  

order  to  become  beFer  at  a  stroke.    •   I  think  this  par<cular  magazine    is  not  aimed  at  either  sex  as  I  believe  it  would  appeal  to  both  Male  and  Female  as  the  sport  of  swimming  has  a  

fairly  equal  number  of  men  and  women  who  partake  in  the  sport.    

What  type  of  photography  is  used  in  Swimming  World?    

In  terms  of  the  photography  used  in  the  magazine  “Swimming  World”,  I  would  describe  it  as  what  you  would  expect  and  seems  quite  typical  of  the  photography  in  sports  magazines.  There  are  numerous  photographs  capturing  the  ac<on  and  the  moment  at  that  <me.  For  example,  throughout  “Swimming  World”  the  photographs  used  show  the  ac<on,  and  are  more  than  oTen  taken  during  different  strokes  to  capture  the  moment  and  the  technique  the  swimmer  is  using.  In  addi<on  to  this,  the  magazine  may  also  contain  pictures  of  swimmers  diving    which  is  again  to  capture  the  ac<on.  However  occasionally  the  magazine  may  also  use  photographs  of  different  equipment  and  accessories  that  swimmers  use  and  are  likely  to  list  photos  of  professional  or  well  known  swimmers  wearing  their  equipment  or  accessories,  in  order  to  promote  these  products.  As  consumers  of  the  magazine  may  see  a  person  they  idolise  or  aspire  to  be  like  wearing  the  accessory  or  equipment  and  then  decide  to  purchase  it.    Examples  of  pictures  used  in  Swimming  World:  

As  said  previously,  this  photo  captures  the  ac<on  of  the  swimmer,  as  it  is  taken  during  a  

par<cular  stroke,  and  in  result,  the  reader  is  given  a  

sense  of  the  energy  and  the  amount  of  effort  put  in  by  the  swimmer,    which  

seems  to  be  a  large  amount  as  we  can  see  the  ripples  in  the  pool  created  by  his  

speed.
