This online lab explores lab scenarios based on the Symmetrix VMAX Configuration Management Video ILT. The session does not cover concepts, but rather provides a lab environment where participants can validate skills and concepts covered in the Video-ILT. During this online lab session, participants will learn how to configure a Symmetrix and prepare it for host access. Use of the Symmetrix Command Line interface (SYMCLI) on the Symmetrix V-Max Series Array, configuring changes with the Unisphere for VMAX GUI, and creating, mapping, and masking of devices to traditional and VMware ESXi servers will be included in the lab material. Other topics include Autoprovisioning, Virtual Provisioning, Virtual LUN migration for regular and thin devices, Fully Automated Storage Tiering (FAST) for disk groups and Virtual Pools, and Federated Tiered Storage. Successful completion of the Symmetrix VMAX Configuration Management Video-ILT and all prerequisites will prepare participants for the pre-course assessment test. Completion of the pre-course assessment test is required in order to register for this online lab course. Prerequisite Knowledge/SkillsTo understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have a suitable knowledgebase/skill set. The student must have an understanding of: Symmetrix Fundamentals VMware vSphere Fundamentals

Labs will be conducted on Unix and Windows systems. Students must be familiar with the editor so they can create files during the lab exercises.

In addition to the skills listed above, participants are required to complete the Symmetrix VMAX Configuration Management Video ILT and Symmetrix VMAX Configuration Management Assessment prior to registration for this online lab course. To receive credit for completion of this lab in their transcript, students must demonstrate attendance, participation, and lab completion to the instructor.
