In industrial manufacture of chemicals through their formation with many a combination and technique, to arrive at the needed composition, colour change is a very useful criterion. An instrument that can detect instantly and record the changes in the colour of the reacting substance has been developed, which uses a Provotech sensor. Using an embedded controller, and an exhaustive software to sense the colour, it can report the parameters quantitatively from instant to instant; it is a very compact and simple one to use in the laboratories or in production. The artificially intelligent program can sense and report colours by names in addition to the more detailed quantitative colour space parameters. The controller could also initiate action to time a reaction to occur, to stop a reaction at the intended level by the sensing of the changes in hue, say from 640 nm to 650 nm. Though a simple and economical instrument, it provides useful colour value information during the transition phase of any reaction and reports the data to a computer in addition to a display on LCD of the hue, saturation and colour name, such as reddish purple. Curcumin (CUR), a wel l -known Indian cooking ingredient i s now an es tabl ished pharmaceut ical agent . The

medic inal qual i t ies of CUR vary f rom being a s imple ant i - inf lammatory agent to ant i -cancer and ant i -HIV

agent . Recent ly, CUR is also tr ied as a photosensi t izer in photodynamic therapy for the t reatment of cancer.

For the effect ive administ rat ion of a PS molecule, t ransdermal route of drug administ rat ion has profound

advantage and to have a better penetrat ion of the drug molecule, i t is possible to use a penet rat ion enhancer.

CUR is f luorescent in nature and owing to i ts hydrophobic i ty, dissolut ion studies wi th various drug del ivery

systems are carr ied out using f luorescence spect roscopic techniques. The solubi l izat ion of CUR is achieved

by using poly(v inylpyrrol idone) (PVP) as the drug del ivery media. To accelerate the solubi l izat ion and

transdermal penet rat ion, myr ist ic acid (MA), a fa t ty acid is used as a penet rat ion enhancer. The pre-

Detect ing and measuring acetone concent rat ions in the workplace or human body are necessary for our

safety and heal th . When the concent rat ion of acetone in ai r is higher than 10,000 ppm, people may develop a

poisonous gases in the atmosphere. In the present work, a thick f i lm of composi te was prepared by using PVDF and Al2O3 (PVDAl ). Then, the composi te’s chemical sensing behaviour for acetone vapours were tested

by measuring the resistance change of the composi te at room temperature. An increase in resistance has been observed wi th a response t ime of about ten seconds. The PVDF/Al2O3 (PVDAl) composi tes were

30 wt% has also been veri f ied. To attain these notable elect r ical propert ies a very new combinat ion of

polymeric materials v iz. polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) materials were considered which further been doped wi th ammonium acetate (CH3COONH4 ) in order to enhance the conduct iv i ty and

and the temperature range of 308–353 K. The ac conduct iv i ty σac was found to obey the power law Aωs . The

frequency exponent ial fac tor s was calculated and i t was found to be in the range between 0.432 and 0.69

which was dependent on the ammonium acetate.

Discharge of organic chemicals in to the water bodies leads problems to both human and aquat ic l i fe. Barium

hexaferr i te is an effec t ive catalyst in the rapid degradat ion of methylene blue dye. In this regard, the present

study was focused on synthesis of copper subst i tuted barium photocatalyst by co-precipi ta t ion method and

the as-synthesized materials were calc ined at 650ºC for 8 h to form the corresponding ferr i tes . The obtained

ferr i tes were charac terized by UV-DRS, Fourier Transform Inf rared (FT-IR), Powder X-ray Di f f rac t ion (PXRD),

Magneti te nanopart ic les has immense potent ial for the envi ronmental remediat ion of inorganic contaminants

l ike heavy metals . In the present research work the commercial magneti te nanopart ic les were procured,

characterized and i t ’s ef f ic iency was analyzed for the removal of Pb and Cd f rom the aqueous solut ions of f ly

ash using shake f lask method in an incubator shaker at room temperature. The morphological analysis was

done by microscopic techniques: SEM-EDS and HRTEM which revealed the cuboidal shaped nanopart ic les of

s ize 20–45 nm. The crys tal l in i ty and microst ructure was analyzed by the XRD, Raman and FTIR. The

magneti te nanopart ic les were segregate, uni form and crys ta l l ine in nature. The SEM-EDS revealed the high

puri ty o f the sample as the EDS spect ra have peaks for Fe and O only. The 20% f ly ash solut ion have higher

Pb and Cd heavy metal concent rat ion than others . Magneti te nanopart ic les removed Pb upto 95.32% af ter 18
