    SYNOPSISDuring the month of September there were 580 adverse actions taken by INS Inspections at JFK.These actions consisted of 65 removal hearings [1862], 106 withdrawals [I275], 92 visa waiver program[VWP] removals, 51 detainers [I247a], 6 limited asylum hearings by IJ, 6 limited review by IJ [I863], 10ineligible transit without visa [TWOV], 218 expedited removals [I860], 0 detained deferral, 6 airlinecustody [I259] and 20 credible fear interviews by APSO. There were 4 cases accepted for prosecution bythe US Attorney from the JFK Enforcement Unit. Of these total actions, 159 were the result of theInterception of fraud.

    The following countries each contributed one fraud case: BOLIVIA, COSTA RICA, CUBA, IRAN,LIBERIA, MALAYSIA, MARTINIQUE, MAURITANIA. MEXICO, NEPAL, NIGER, PAKISTAN, SENEGAL,SOUTH KOREA, SRI LANKA, SWITZERLAND, TRINIDAD, VIETNAM and ZAMBIA.

    There were 104 aliens who applied for entry under the VWP program, who were determined to beinadmissible, of which 92 were VWP refusals, 6 detainers and 6 limited asylum hearings. The number ofVWP inadmlssibtes by passport country are: JAPAN 2, SWITZERLAND 2, GERMANY 5, AUSTRIA 1,UNITED KINGDOM 23, NETHERLANDS 5, SWEDEN 1, BELGIUM 2, IRELAND 6, SLOVENIA 3,FRANCE 12, ITALY 10, DENMARK 3, NEW ZEALAND 1, SPAIN 11, ARGENTINA 1, PORTUGAL 1,SINGAPORE 5 and URUGUAY 10.

    Inclusive in the monthly total of adverse actions, 31 aliens arrived requesting political asylum; 5 arrivedwithout documentation; 21 involved fraudulent documents that are included in the statistics on thepreceding page. The following are the nationalities involved in political asylum claims for this month:CHINA 2 DOM REPUBLIC 1 INDIA 2 NIGERIA 4COLOMBIA 2 ETHIOPIA 2 JAMAICA 1 PAKISTA 2CUBA 5 FRANCE 1 LIBERIA 2 SRI LANKA 2DENMARK 1 GUINEA 2 MAURITANIA 1 VIETNAM 1Inclusive in the monthly total of adverse actions, 9 aliens arrived presenting NO DOCUMENTS. Thisamount is not included in the fraud document totals on page one of this report. Below is a list of theclaimed nationalities of these aliens:CHINA 1 FRANCE 1 NIGERIA 1 UNITED KINGDOM 1CUBA 4 GERMANY 1CarrierTrainingThere was no carrier training conducted this month.This maintains a total of 189 airline agents, 16 foreign consular/immigration officers, and 1 U.S.government agency trained under the NYC program during this fiscal year to date.Enforcement ProgramsDuring this month there were 4 new cases that were accepted for prosecution by the AUSA. Thismaintains a total of 51 cases that were accepted for prosecution by the AUSA during this fiscal year.During this rnonthi due to the efforts of the enforcement and PAU projects, 16 aggravated felons wereidentified. Their efforts aided in the processing of 19 additional criminal deferrals, 5 active warrants wereturned over to wanting agencies, 11 240 hearings were executed, 8 expedited removals were executed, 3I-275, 4 VWP refusals and 3 I-247 detainers. The warrants were for criminal possession of a controlledsubstance, conspiracy to distribute heroin, criminal contempt, theft of services, petit larceny, harassmentand larceny. Two malafide crewmerrtbers were apprehended as a result of the "Deep Six" operation.These actions are included in the aforementioned statistics.Deport AssistanceDuring the month JFK assisted various Deportation and Removal officers in their deportation of 4 aliensto their home countries. This maintains a total of 124deport assists for the fiscal year.
