Traction control? Isn’t that what you need when your wheels pop up in the air? Well, RoGator is designedto keep all four wheels firmly on the ground. Our innovative ladder-style, C-Channel frame providesunparalleled flexibility. When your operators hit tough terrain, all four wheels grip the ground, providingsuperior traction. That means less engine stress, smoother spraying, and no time lost while stuck in a ditch. So instead of adding traction control, we chose to eliminate the need for it.

Insect and sanitation of empty grain bins and warehouses. Do not spray directly on grain or feed. Spray to the point ofrunoff. Fast knockdown and four to eight weeks of residual. Dilution rate equals .27-.54 fl. oz. per 1000 sq. ft.

Upon exposure to air, Weevil-Cide pellets begin to react with atmospheric moisture to produce small quantities ofphosphine gas. Apply after grain is in facility. Leakage is the single most important cause of failure in the treatment offarm storages. All vents and aeration ducts must be sealed. Tarping of the grain surface will greatly reduce leakage.Restricted use.

MISSOURI PRIVATE LANDQUAILFOCUS AREAS

by Aaron JeffriesTo benefit landowners and

bobwhite quail, the MissouriDepartment of Conservation hasidentified 34 private land quailfocus areas throughout the state(see map). These focus areas havebeen established where severallandowners are already managingfor quail, near conservation areaswith good quail habitat and/orwhere conservation partners haveexpressed an interest in quailhabitat management. The purposeof establishing quail focus areas isto show a landscape levelimprovement in quail populationsby improving habitat on severalfarms close to one another.

Most focus areas are around30,000 acres in size, but some areeven larger because of widespreadlandowner interest and success.Department employees targetlandowners within these focusareas by marketing quailmanagement and then providingtechnical and financial assistance tothose interested. In the meantime, staff continue to work withlandowners outside focus areas byproviding technical and financialassistance to help landowners meettheir resource objectives.

Landowners are improving habitat for quail by converting grass fields and crop field edges to nativewarm-season grasses and wildflowers. Habitat edges between open land and woodlands are being developedas winter and escape cover through edge feathering and timber stand improvement. Landowners are alsocontrolling invasive plants like sericea lespedeza, spotted knapweed, teasel, autumn olive and bushhoneysuckle. Often herbicides perform a critical role in the restoration of quail friendly habitats. Forexample, glyphosate based herbicides are excellent for eradicating undesirable herbaceous vegetation orsuppressing grass growth. Brush herbicides can be used to control unwanted broadleaf plants like sericealespedeza and for treating cut tree stumps when edge feathering.Several private land focus areas have gotten off to a great start as a result of widespread landowner interest

and conservation programs like the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) and Conservation SecurityProgram (CSP). Focus areas in Cass, Caldwell, Carroll, Dekalb, Knox, Lawrence, Monroe, Saline, Scott,Howell and Wright Counties are seeing an increase in quail densities, and, as a result, other landowners havestarted to notice. Some landowners within focus areas are converting their entire farm to quail friendlyhabitat, while others are restoring small portions of their agriculture operation. No matter how muchlandowners are restoring, every little bit helps. The key is having a concentration of quality habitat to benefitbobwhite and other wildlife. Success will come one farm at a time. For quail, every little bit helps.

Get Cost-Share, Technical Assistance and Large-Scale ResultsEstablishing quail focus areas helps neighbors work together to create large spreads of high-quality

quail habitat. Cooperators receive cost-share and technical assistance, and many landowners are excitedabout restoring quail to their farms. To learn more about quail habitat management visit your localMissouri Department of Conservation office or visit www.mdc.mo.gov/landown/wild/quail.

Tips on Controlling Brush

1. Do not mow the same year that you spray brush. One or two years of new growth is needed to insure adequate volumeof foliage to uptake herbicide.

2. Application timing is crititical in providing good control. Some species will have different application timings to get adequatecontrol. Spray your targeted species at the right time.

3. Try to use a minimum of 20 gal per acre when broadcast spraying. This will insure adequate coverage. Always add Astute(NIS) to the mix.

Balanced fertility colors them all.

However you farm. Whatever you farm. Think fertility. Almost

50 percent of U.S. cropland is below optimal fertility. That’s a
