Transportation Applications Overview
Traffic monitoring and Passenger Information
Maintenance and Quality Control
Freight Identification and Tracking
Event Triggering for Onboard Systems
Selective Door Opening (SDO)
Positioning for Onboard Management
The basic configurations in Rail Transportation
Train mounted TagReader mounted on track side
Train mounted TagReader mounted on sleepers
Train mounted Reader Tag mounted above or below train
Application - Traffic monitoring & passenger information
Accurate, real-time information of the location or position of each vehicle– Track side or sleeper mounted readers
Updating track-side systems– Vehicle mounted tags
Updating on-board systems
Hamburg Metro
Operation monitoring and control system– 190 Reader locations– 800 trains
Heavy Duty track reader, sleeper mounted. Application includes direction detection.
Dutch Railways - Holand
The GOTCHA system for wheel flat detection and axle load measurement on mainline trains uses TagMaster’s RFID system for automatic identification. Each passenger wagon has a tag on both sides. Ensure 100% accuracy in allocating the measurement data to the correct train– 45 measuring locations– over 1500 vehicles with tags
Application - Freight Identification and Tracking
Automatic identification of rail wagons/containers– Track side and crane mounted readers– Tags mounted on side or ends of wagons and containers
–Reference examples – AVN Waste plant in Austria– HirOcem Slovakia– RailPro Holland
TagMaster HD Product Range – Heavy-duty RFID Readers and ID-tags
Range of intelligent RFID Readers for track-side mounting
Heavy-duty Track Readers for track mounting on sleepers/ties
Heavy-duty Readers for mounting on-board trains
Range of ID-tags for automatic identification of trains and wagons
GEN4 HD Series
Read-range up to 6 metresVariable supply voltage (10 to 30 VDC)Encapsulation to IP67Standard Serial Interfaces + TCP/IP over Ethernet + USBSoftware Defined Radio (SDR) able to adapt to 2.45 GHz RFID protocolsLinux operating systemApproved to Railway Standards for Vibration and EMC Accurate Positioning – Software Option Able to report tag position to an accuracy of +/- 10cm or better
Heavy Duty Reader
156640 HD-series Reader - for train mounting
Track Reader
The 156940 HD Track Reader is designed for railway applications where the reader is mounted on the track. Due to the robust and compact mechanical design the reader can be mounted directly on the sleeper. The unique built-in direction detector feature can be used to determine the direction of a passing train even when the train has no ID-Tag.
156940 HD Track Reader
Handheld Reader
151600 HandHeld Reader
The HR-2 handheld RFID Reader provides fully mobile read/write capability for TagMaster’s 2.45 GHz ID-tags. The device is designed for use in a wide range of demanding environments where ID-tags need to be verified and recorded. The combination of this portable RFID device and its touch screen user interface with TagMaster’s powerful Linux operating system provides integrators with the flexibility to customize or enhance the functionality of the HR-2.
HD Tags for Rail Applications
Heavy Duty Read-only Tag 145500Fully sealed unitRead only tag with 8 digit IDDesigned for Rail applications
Heavy Duty Read-write Tag 145000Fully sealed Read-write tag8 digit ID + programmable memory area (up to 606 bits)Programmable via RF signal using a reader (0.25m write distance)
Standard TagMaster HD ID-tag Features• Semi-passive technique
(HD tags are battery powered with typical predictable 10 year lifetime)• Number of reads does not reduce tag life• Unique 8 digit ID code• 32 bit checksum (highest possible level of data integrity)• High Speed, up to 400 km/h (subject to tag and reader configuration)• Easy to fix directly on flat metal surface using bolts, rivets or adhesive tape
HD Tags for Rail Applications
149600 & 149700 HDS Field Programmable Tags
149600 Factory Programmed TagEnables “customer defined 28 or 32bit ID” to be ordered and programmed by TagMaster
149700 Field Programmable (FP) Tag One-time-programmableEnables “customer defined 28 or 32bit ID” to be programmed directly into the tag in the field, using the FP ProgrammerCan be used to replace an existing tag with a new tag containing the same ID
