MISSION STATEMENT

To deliver a challenging and enriching education in a supportive environment that

will transform the lives of our students.

ERO REPORT FEBRUARY 2009

High quality pastoral care.

Students receive a significant amount of personalised support. Facilities for international students are spacious and include a large kitchen

area and a separate room for relaxation and socialisation. Good quality English language support is provided.

ESOL classes are small and designed to be a pathway to students’ learning in other areas rather than a subject in its own right.

Teacher aides provide support for international students in mainstream classes.

STUDENTS’ COMMENTS

“I had so many experiences. I have new

friends and I have a new family. It is hard

to say goodbye to my new life here in

New Zealand”.

“I will remember forever all the things I

have learned with my teachers, my friends

and my host family”.

to speak and listen more until I got used to the new language”

“I didn’t know any English 18 months

ago and now I can talk with Kiwi friends.

They are very friendly and help me”.

“My Homestay family really help me and

look after me and give me a good Kiwi

experience”.

“I have joined the school rugby team and

love playing with my kiwi friends”.

“I can now speak and understand English. My homestay helped me

with my reading. The school ski trip helped me make good kiwi

friends.”

“My host family treated me like their daughter. They sometimes

cooked me Japanese food.”
