This premier event is a “Don’t Miss” for you and your guests. Avoid the hustle and bustle
of the city, not to mention the traffic and tolls and experience the best of NYC right here
at PHCC. Enjoy Chef Chris’ interpretations of the following Manhattan restaurants
expertly paired with wine and spirits.
Chef Daniel Boulud’s renowned restaurant delights the senses with elegant ambiance, gracious service and delectable menus in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. One of the few Manhattan restaurants to have a coveted three-star Michelin rating.
Marea, meaning “tide” in Italian, redefines the seascape of high-end Italian cuisine serving regional foods of Italy that are heavily influenced by ingredients drawn from the four bodies of water that surround the boot, and at Marea, Chef Michael White presents a fresh interpretation of this coastal cuisine.
Chef/Partner Laurent Tourondel and TAO Group marry classic French technique with the American concept of steakhouse and “vibe dining” at Arlington Club. The menu features prime beef, fish, salads, sides and sushi.
Executive Chef, Daniel Humm’s masterfully prepared French-grounded cooking, bridges the classically saucy decadence of the past and the progressive tastes of a new generation. Eleven Madison Park evokes the true spirit of grand New York dining.

Daily Dining Service General Manager’s Corner
Dear Member,
Although the summer season is coming to an end, our management team is gearing up to help
you make the next few months, a “Fall to Remember”. Our goal is to keep up our high
membership participation levels throughout the fall. Our popular events such as NYC Dine
Around, the very exciting Preakness Cup, and our Family Fall Festival are always member
favorites but don’t forget to check out our unique new offerings as well. Our Pirates &
Princesses Family Dinner and Grandma’s Sunday Supper are great ways for our families to
reconnect after the week of school and work. We strive to provide events and concepts that will
enhance your membership experience as well as your family’s lifestyle and ask that you take
part in all your Club has to offer.
Our Fall Ahead membership initiative has begun and we have already seen some early success.
Insight from our new members and membership leads consistently focuses positively on our
service culture and our warm and welcoming members. Keep up the good work, you are our
best ambassadors. We are committed to providing you with the experience that makes you
proud of your club, so you are eager to share your Club experience with your friends, family,
and business associates. We continue to look for quality families who will further enhance our
membership. If you have leads and need assistance please do not hesitate to contact me directly
or our Membership Director, Margaret O’Keefe.
Our 2014 internship program proved to be very successful. I would like to thank Logan
Bushman, Madison McCann, Ryan Lynch, Emily Vassoler, and Meg Gould for a fantastic
summer. Our interns took ownership of the pool environment, ran a very successful kids camp,
assisted with club events, and excelled at displaying our high level of service to our
membership. I thank you the members for being open and inviting to our students and for
assisting them in their efforts to further their careers in the hospitality field. On behalf of the
entire Preakness Hills family we wish them the best of luck back at college and in their future
endeavors.
Sincerely,
James Messina
General Manager

John Mascari, PGA Tee to Green - Notes from the Pro
A lot of people have commented to me that they are happy we have moved aerification to
September instead of early August, allowing us to enjoy optimum playing conditions
throughout the rest of summer. As a reminder, we will be doing our annual fall aerification
Tuesday, September 2nd through Friday, September 5th. Although we suggest that
members refrain from inviting guests during the aerification days, technology has improved
the process significantly regarding subsequent course conditions; therefore we can enjoy
good playing conditions almost immediately following aerification.
Don’t lament that the summer is almost over chillier weather is on its way. Fall golf at
PHCC is the best in my opinion. There is a lot of great golf yet to be played. So break out
those wind shirts and get out there and enjoy the beauty of the season.
It’s hard to believe, but here we are closing in on the end of summer. It has truly been a
terrific year for golf at Preakness Hills. Our tournament participation has surpassed last
year’s large increase, our ladies programs are reaching new members, and our junior golf
program is starting to come into its own. We will have a few more events into the autumn
months such as the Preakness Cup, Men’s Member Guest and Ladies Closing Day. Our
Professional staff will be here to put the finishing touches on your swing or help you
prepare for the winter months in warmer climates. Speaking of warmer climates, if you
are looking to get away for some golf this winter, our staff has been invited to play in some
terrific Pro-Am tournaments. Our stops include Barbados, Jamaica, Bahamas and Punta
Cana. If you’re up for some exquisite golf, 5-star accommodations and lasting memories,
we’d love to have you on our team. So please stop by the Professional Shop and see what we
have in store for the rest of the year. It’s going to be great finish for 2014. Thank you as
always for your continuing support.
