Take steps to become a Center of Excellence “We have new accountability
for health outcomes, and this
responsibility requires both
skilled staff and effective
leadership. I am excited to
introduce the Certificates of
Excellence program. We want
to support all National Council
member organizations in
becoming Centers of Excellence.”
– Linda Rosenberg
What is it?There are 6 certificates, each consisting of 10-12 courses; (2) on mental health; (2) on addictions; and (2) on leadership development
Why is it important? The Certificates were developed to provide tools and resources to behavioral healthcare organizations to invest in their staff. With the dramatic changes facing the world of mental health and addictions treatment provider organizations, encouraging the uptake of the Certificates of Excellence can better position an organization as promoting excellence and innovation. Organizations can be ensured that individuals completing the Certificates have a consistent, standard knowledge base. The program can be part of an organization’s efforts to becoming a true center of excellence, ensuring staff knowledge in key areas that relate to delivering higher quality care and preparing your organization for Medicaid health homes, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics and other changes happening in behavioral health.
Who would benefit? With the new health care landscape, providers, states and stakeholders will certainly be talking more about the concept of Centers of Excellence and Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers, and these continued education (CE) opportunities can help augment CEOs’ efforts to train their staff to prepare for national implementation of the Excellence Act in years to come.
