IB programme implementation

Find IB workshops

There are several ways to find IB workshops that interest you, using your laptop, smart phone or tablet:

ecatalogue.ibo.orgBrowse the current catalogue of workshops in an interactive format that connects you to a live calendar of times and places where IB workshops will occur. It’s a simple way to browse and register—all in one short online session. Easy, quick, done!

www.ibo.org/en/professional-development/find-events-and-workshopsUse this event finder to search and register for workshops that interest you. You can search by date, programme, location, language, format or category.

www.ibo.org/en/professional-developmentLearn more about IB annual conferences, where you can mix with hundreds of IB educators from your region of the world. For three and a half days, choose among dozens of sessions that match up with your professional interests and activities. For added value, go home and share what you learn with your professional learning community.

Become part of an active professional learning community

While face-to-face and online workshops are key components of your ongoing professional development, many schools also find it worthwhile to create an active professional learning community (PLC) led by the IB coordinator. Regular gatherings of a PLC fuel continuous growth and provide support and opportunity for inclu-sive discussions, reflective thinking and group sharing. The IB offers resources that can generate fresh content for your PLC meetings. These informal learning experiences offer high-quality professional development for all members of your staff, no matter where their starting point is or how long their IB resume is.

The IB Webinar PassThe IB offers a series of eight webinars throughout the year tailored for the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Pre-senters of these informative, interactive sessions are experienced IB educators. The IB webinar pass lets all programme teachers in a school participate in live sessions and grants access to the archive of past online seminars.

IB DP AdvantageDeveloped for Diploma Programme educators, this annual sub-scription of e-learning, videos, webinars and mentoring bridges gaps in knowledge, provides timely support and encourages sharing of best practices throughout the school year.

Welcome to the world of IB teaching and learning!

Your journey of transformation has begun! To keep your momentum going, rely on IB resources to strengthen your IB foundation and support your school’s excellence.

While you are a candidate school, your head of school, programme coordinator and faculty of IB teachers will attend prescribed Category 1 workshops as part of your school’s action plan. After your school is authorized, your IB faculty can choose Category 2 and Category 3 workshops to attend, either face-to-face or online. Category 2 workshops ensure that your teachers continue developing expertise as IB educators by exploring best teaching and learning methodologies and getting updates on programme changes and changes in subject areas. An array of Category 3 workshops offer ample opportunity to develop mastery in subject areas and to learn exceptional teaching practice.

School Enhancement Services provide customized supportFor schools, school leaders and educators desiring a more intensive, targeted level of support, the IB has designed School Enhancement Services. Hundreds of authorized schools have participated in trials of these services.

Building Quality Curriculum (PYP)—For PYP schools that would like structured feedback on units of inquiry and the programme of inquiry, deeper understanding of the curriculum planning process and improved written curriculum.

Curriculum Connections (for PYP and MYP)—For schools that would like greater support in determining appropri-ate connections between the PYP and/or the MYP and local or national curriculum requirements. Through consultation and coaching, participant schools receive helpful examples, expert guidance and skills development to apply to their own curriculum development process.

IB Consultancy—Supports schools from authorization up to the period prior to programme evaluation. Schools may tailor this service to gain feedback and guidance on specific standards and practices that promote effective implemen-tation in certain areas. Twelve strands offer focus on areas your school identifies as priorities. Choose several strands as a starting point for your engagement with an IB consultant.

School Enhancement Services are options for both candidate and authorized schools. However, they do not replace professional development requirements for IB authorization. • Services may generate changes and results that

enhance future programme evaluations.• Services may provide additional support during

candidacy.
