Talking to your child
before they start
back to school after
the school closure
Advice for parents to help prepare
their children for the changes in
their school day when they start
back
You have made the decision for your child to come back to school,
but what now? What about school will be the same? What will be
different? We have prepared this leaflet to talk through changes
with your children prior to starting. We hope it will help your child
understand the new school day that will be in place until it is safe to
go back to normality.
When you come to school you will only need
to bring with you a water bottle, a coat and
a sunhat. Everyone will be coming to school
through the main gate on Livingstone Road.
When you come to school, there will be
some pictures on the fence. These are 2
metres apart and you will need to stand by
one of these pictures with your adult. This
is to form a queue so that we can safely
get everyone into school. You will then
move onto the next picture as the person in front of you has been
dropped off. This will avoid pinch points and enable all parents to
observe 2m distancing.
Only one parent/carer is allowed to come to drop off. You MUST
hold your grown ups hand at all times. Your drop off time is at the
bottom of this booklet.
You need to have everything ready in your hands as you will have to
come through the gate and say goodbye to your adult as quickly as
possible so that they can leave the school gate area straight away.
Mrs Bayliss and Mr Biddle will be there to help you. So don’t worry.
Mrs Bayliss and Mr Biddle will then help you line up in the play-
ground and your teacher will be there to lead you into the class-
room.
When you get into the building you will need to wash your hands—
the adults will show you what to do.
You will come to school every morning from Monday—Thursday.
What will happen when I first come into school?
Your bubble is your new learning group. Some of your friends will be
in there. The grown ups in your bubble are in charge. It is very im-
portant that you listen to the grown ups as they will be asking you
to do things to keep you safe, like washing your hands a lot!
You are in the Pink bubble. The adults working with you are
Mrs Piggott and Mrs Hamlyn.
This is a picture of your new classroom. It looks a little different
as you can’t sit next to your friends at the moment—but your
teachers will tell you all about your classroom when you see them.
What are ‘Bubbles’?
Sadly you cannot. For the time being you will need to make a space
between you and your friends and your teacher.
If you do not feel well before you come to school, you mustn’t come
to school. If you feel very poorly, your grown ups will take you to be
tested for the virus. If you have it, they must let the school know
straight away. If you feel poorly we will telephone your parents/
carers to come straight to school to take you home.
We will be learning lots at school and having fun with our friends—
but it will be a bit different. You can’t work on the same table as
your friends and you will have your own special pen pot to use.
Every time you come into school you will have a space to sit in with
your name on it. You will sit in the same space every day when you
come into the class. Your reading book will have to stay in school, so
we will not be bringing bookbags anymore.
You don’t need to wear your school uniform—but please wear your
trainers to school.
Can I hug my teacher and friends? I have really
missed everyone.
What should I do if I don’t feel very well?
What will I be doing in school?
The corona virus is still traveling from person to person. Until it has
gone away, things will be a bit different for everybody. We will get
used to washing our hands and cleaning our equipment.
Your grown up can pick you up at 12 o’clock.
Your teacher will walk you out in your line—you will need to stay in
the correct place in the playground. When Mrs Bayliss and Mr Bid-
dle say your name—you can go through the gate and go home. When
you go out to your grown up, you will need to go quickly then walk
around the school to go home.
Make sure you hold your grownups hand all and don’t wait to see
your friends. You must not run about on your own. If your mummy or
daddy wants to talk to your teacher, they can do this on the tele-
phone or by email.
Please remember to wash your hands before you come to school
every day.

school?
