We will be welcoming our readers in the chilly winter months with exciting news stories. It is really winter now - hope everyone is dressed up warm to beat the cold and flu. This is the time of the year where people experience fires leading to damage of property and loss of life. We encourage people to follow the safety precautions when using candles, heaters, fire braziers (Imbawula) and paraffin stoves.

The World Cup is starting today - let us all show support to the participating countries by watching all the soccer matches on our television sets. Although many women may feel ignored or neglected by their partners because they are soccer fanatics, they should allow their partners to enjoy this event which comes only once every four years.People who do not have television sets or electricity at their homes can also watch the games at the big

screens situated in the municipal parks. As we are celebrating youth month, many activities will be happening around your communities. If you need your events to be published in the newspaper, please do not hesitate to contact our editorial team for coverage. Cheers for now.

Fashion and events comes and go but wedding day experience remains a memo-rable experience for most brides and con-tinues to be shared by many generations to come in most family. Despite the uphill battles associated with a lot of marriages, wedding day experiences are what inspired Chantel Gamble to establish a Bridal Dreamm Shop based in Alberton. “I have tried a lot of business ventures after I retired from my previous work but with no success. My real break came when I saw a wed-ding gown advert on the internet a few years ago. I decided to redirect my energy on selling wedding gowns,” said Gam-ble.Despite the alarm-ing rate of divorce incidents, she said young generations grow up and they also want to be mar-ried like their prede-

cessors. That is why there is always a niche for wedding dresses. “Most of the dresses we have in our shop are imported from overseas. However, we do custom ordered dresses de-pending on customer’s specifications,” said Gamble.Wedding dresses and matric dresses at Brid-al Dreamm shop ranges from R1900-R2500. The shop is situated at Trust bank Centre, number 50 Voortrekker Road, Alberton. For more info contact Chantel Gamble at: 082 756 1269.

As winter is fast approaching and the temperature continues to drop, 20 underprivileged learners from Tshabalala Primary School will no longer feel a morning chilly breeze after they received school jerseys. According to the school principal, Busisiwe Mndaweni, “The school jerseys donation came at the right time. We are happy that God has provided for our school again.”The noble initiative came about after the school teacher Ngaka Mile spoke to fellow church member Doctor Ntokozo Ngakane about the plight of some learners. Mile said their school relationship with Ngakane started early this year when she donated school shoes to 20 learners. “The 20 jerseys we have just received are her second donation to our school. Our partnership continues to grow. It impacted the learners productively and also changes their lives. All learners from our school are now looking identical in their school uniform.”One of the initiative beneficiaries, Bright Maphanga is grateful to get a new jersey after being without it for a lengthy period. A parent Lindiwe Mokhele said finally children from the school are now looking the same despite their various backgrounds. She urges the sponsor to continue to plough back to the school.

The Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation (NCCF) recently visited five charity organisations that they assist around Kathorus to assess how they were faring and to find out the special requirements they will need over the coming months. The visit was targeting 10 organisations around Ekurhuleni and in Kathorus they visited ; Fountain Of Love in Katlehong, Caroline’s Care Safe House and Crèche in Spruitview, Pelonomi Pre-Cum Crèche in Vosloorus, Phutanang Safe Home in Vosloorus, Maphindi’s Day Care Centre in Thokoza.“The NCCF tries to visit all the charities we provide aid to as often as possible to see how they are getting on and how else the NCCF can help the children belonging to the charities under our care. It is vital that we visit all the assisted NCCF charities so to keep up to date on their needs and changes. We want to ensure that they are operating in keeping with the standards that we based our initial support on,” said Helen Fraser, Director of the NCCF.“Besides that, it is also hugely rewarding to be greeted at our charities with warm welcomes, hugs and in some cases even

song and dance routines performed by the children and caregivers to express their gratitude. Many of the charities we provide aid for have openly said to us that they would not be able to care for the children they do without our support,” said Fraser. The NCCF runs as a “sustainable living” foundation, which means that the NCCF visits the charities that appeal to them for help and assesses their individual needs. The Foundation then tries to provide for those charities in a way that promotes sustainable living and improves the lives of the children in a meaningful way instead of merely handing over a cheque and leaving the charities to fend for themselves.

The Thokoza Rugby and Egagasin Car Wash will embark on a nyaope intervention initiative aimed at eradicating the widespread usage of nyaope in the township. Speaking to tame TIMES, the event organiser Fani Banda, cited that they want to relocate the local addicts to a drug rehabilitation centre. “Upon their release they will be enrolled for rugby, basketball and cricket. They will also enrol for business skills courses namely, running a hair salon, owning car wash and other various life skills initiatives.” He said the project is one year old.Banda further said they will be hosting a fundraising initiative on June 16 at Egagasin Car wash in Thokoza. “We urge people to donate clothes and shoes for the nyaope addicts. We embarked on this initiative because we are concerned that as a country we have lost the younger generation to nyaope. Nyaope addicts misuse their God-given talent - they should be our sports ambassadors or business entrepreneurs,” said Banda. He urged people to start talking about the effects of nyaope in our society and to take action.

The Katlehong based Sonqoba (victory) Primary School lived up to its name when they won the Danone Ekurhuleni Inter-district final held at Eden Park Stadium recently. Three schools participated in the tournament playing a round robin system. According to Sanqoba coach, Wanda Mtshali, they are thrilled that the school qualified for the provincial final, third time in a row. The school team manager, Abel Lebotho, warned teams to brace themselves for the mother of all battles as they continue to pave their way to play in the Danone final in Brazil. “We urge the Brazilians to stop fighting because Sonqoba is on the way to showcase beautiful soccer in the world greatest football stage. Brazilians will witness how the brilliant soccer game is being played in Mzansi. However, we should first win the provincial and national finals at home to qualify for Danone finals in Brazil.”Sanqoba lost twice in succession through penalty shootouts in the national finals. They believe they will surpass their previous

record in the tournament. Lebotho said his team quest to shake hands with Danone ambassador, Zinedine Zidane remains unshakable. The Brakpan based Farramera Primary School coach, Jacques Martinaglia, said they are happy to attain second position behind Sonqoba. “It is the first time qualifying for the provincial finals. In our last game we started well and lost concentration early in the second half but recovered late. Our team played a 2 all draw against Twatwa based Barcelona Primary School.” South African School Football (SASFA) Chairperson of Ekurhuleni North, Glen Mathebula, said in the finals Ekurhuleni will be represented by Sonqoba and Ferramera Primary School. The Vaal region will be represented by one school, Johannesburg to be represented by two schools, Tshwane to be represented by two schools and West Rand region to be represented by one school. Provincial finals will be held at Reiger Park in Ekurhuleni on 14 June.
