TARA WOMENS SHOW AUXILIARY HISTORY
The Auxiliary was formed in 1960 at the suggestion of the then President of the Show Society, Mr A J Gill. Foundation members were
Mesdames F R Dowe, R Tucker, J H Travers, R O Lewis, A J Gill, L Bridge, H Dunstan, S O’Rourke, A Taylor, V O’Hara, E Cameron, D
Campbell, E Prause, D Gulbrandson, A Woods, C Bougoure and Misses B Staines and Y O’Rourke.
1970 saw the publishing of the first ‘Tara Tucker Book’. This recipe book was compiled to mark the 10th anniversary of the Auxiliary.
When the first edition was printed, no one could envisage that this cook book would become so popular, with eight editions now printed
and over 10,000 copies being sold. The latest edition published in 2015, has lots of new recipes and old favourites. It is available all year
around from the Tara Neighbourhood Centre, The Gums Store or contact us on FACEBOOK.
