Chestnut Tree in the centre of Tarporley.

Join in with the Christmas Carols, feast

on roasted chestnuts, sip some mulled

wine and countdown to the lights switch

Father Christmas will be arriving in

Tarporley on his sleigh, watch for him as

he comes down the high street before he

appears in his grotto with sweets for the

children.

Event organised by Tarporley Parish

Council, raising funds for local charities.

The consultation of Tarporley residents by

the villages Neighbourhood Plan Group,

which had been planned for this autumn,

will now take place later in the year.

Because our local Council CWaC has

ust put out its Local Plan for consultation,

the Group want to spend time looking at

this Plan and collecting evidence to refute

some of its contents. This is important

because Tarporleys Neighbourhood

lan has to t in and be consistent with

the aspirations and the directions o

CWaCs Local Plan. All households will

have received a leaet from the Parish

ouncil at the beginning of ctober

explaining about the Local Plan and

that it states that it allocates 4 new

ouses to be built in Tarporley in the next

20 years. The consultation period ends

on 12th November so there is still time

to make your views known by emailing

The Parish Council meets in the Committee Room o the Community Centre at 7 pm on the second

Monday o each month, with the exception o August. Meetings are open to the public, and

start with an Open Forum session, during which members o the public can address the whole

Council on matters o concern to them. Also the Parish Council holds a surgery at 6.30 pm prior

The presentations were made in Middlewich in early

October and we were also extremely pleased that

our small Fire Brigade Museum received a Little em

award.

The museum is housed in the original re station,

dating rom 1865 and depicts the station as it would

have been about a century ago. The collection o

equipment and artefacts is comprehensive, illustrating

various aspects o rural re ghting o the period.

Will drinking more water prevent dry skin?

Drinking water is great for your skin health, but it wont

necessarily mean that it will improve or reduce dry skin. The

causes of dry skin can be complicated and a truly dry skin

is known in our profession as an alipoid skin which means

TARPORLEY HIGH SCHOOL

ORE than 20 Year 9 students rolled up

their sleeves and got to work on some

culinary delights at the Tarporley High

School Cook-Off.

Students and teachers were all excited

a out the secon cook-off which

premiered last year with great success!

The judges were overwhelmed by

the efforts which included baked gswith goats cheese, chorizio and prawn

Spanish stew and chocolate cakes with

strawberries dipped in chocolate. There were eighteen in total six starters, sixmains and six

desserts. After all those dishes the udges were faced with the challenge of scoring each one. A

huge congratulations goes to Lucy ONeill and Ella Lucas for the best starters, Eilidh Bodsh for

the best main and Olivia Thompson with the help of Megan Challenor for the winning dessert.

AW retained their tutor champions status from last year and were delighted to receive the shield

for another year.

We would like to thank Mrs Zborowski, Mrs Hill (from the school) Mr Williams (catering manager

at school) and Mr Senior, of The Old Hall Hotel in Frodsham, for their judging skills. We would also

SIXTH FORM COLLEGE

MADDIE Berry, a Year 10 student, wrote a

stunning piece of creative writing and won

a writing competition organised by Red

House books. Among tough competition,

Maddies story was selected and will

be published in the Red House Young

Writers Yearbook, 2012 an amazing

achievement!

Not only will Maddie get to see her work

in print, but she also got to attend a

writing workshop with author and judge,

Matt Whyman, at Catteshall Manor, Surrey.

Maddie said: It was a fantastic

opportunity and I am really glad I was

lucky enough to take part in it. We

explored different methods of descriptive

writing to improve our work.

Earlier in the year, she also achieved theYear 9 English prize at Tarporley, thanks

to her superb creative writing skills.

ORMER Tarporley High School English

teacher George Morris, has written a science

ction e-book set in Chester, entitled Six

Worlds. His rst novel has already been

downloaded 340 times all over Europe,

America and even India!

Six Worlds tells the story of three teenagers

iving in parallel universes. Characters include

a Chester boy who answers a call from an

unknown number which will change his life

forever. Six Worlds has its own Facebookpage and Tarporley High School student, Alex

Sinclair, has won a competition through that

site to appear as a new character in the sequel.

other excellent books within the genre written

by established authors, so I was surprised

ow popular the book was when it was being

promoted.

Tarporley ear 8 student, Charlie McMillan,as read the book and highly recommends it: I

really loved the story. I liked switching between

the different worlds and reading all the action.

There is so much going on to keep you gripped

all the way through and it ends on a real

cliffhanger.

T RPORLEY Vics FC form has improved in recent weeks. The First Team enjoyed back to back

wins during October defeating Runcorn Town Reserves and Cuddington Reserves on consecutive

aturdays.

The win against Runcorn Town Reserves was a reward for the hard work of the players, especially

after Tarporleys were reduced to ten men after a sending off. Runcorn took the lead soon

afterwards however Tarporley struck back twice to claim an excellent win.

The 6-1 win over Cuddington Reserves in a Crewe District Cup game was more predictable as

the Crewe League side had already been beaten by Tarporley Vics Reserves in a Crewe FC Junior

hield competition.Vics Reserves have only played one other game, being defeated by Crewe FC Reserves, and a

number of postponements and re-arrangements have meant Sean Taylors new side have yet to

gain any momentum as they look to climb up the League, which is led by local rivals Duddon United.
