In pairs: Take turns to give and follow instructions about how to walk round a square.

In pairs: Arrange five or six squares into a shape.
Give and follow instructions with your partner on how to move round the outside of the shape that you have made together.
– Take a photograph of the shape – Draw the shape on squared paper. – List the instructions that you gave your partner.
– Make some more shapes with five or six squares. – Say how you would move the turtle or bee round the shapes. – List how you moved the turtle or bee.
[A shape made up of 5 squares is called a pentomino. A shape made up of 6 squares is called a hexomino.]
