REFUNDS: The tour is based on arrangements which do not allow for any refunds in respect to sightseeing, accommodation, meals or other services not utilised after the tour has commenced. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: All passengers will require a valid passport. If not an Australian passport holder check with Travelrite International regarding visa requirements. Day 4 Tuesday 23 November 2021 AshburtonWe will start on our two day workshop in dyeing today.

Day 5 Wednesday 24 November 2021 Ashburton We will enjoy a second day of our dyeing and enjoy our finished product.

Day 6 Thursday 25 November 2021 OamaruToday we drive to Geraldine, a picturesque town at the foothills of the Southern Alps. We visit Country Rumours, which stocks Manitoba wool, a blend of Merino and Romney Cross as well as many other types of wool. We continue our journey to Lake Tekapo situated on the lake of the same name with gorgeous mountains in the distance. Our final destination for an overnight stay is Oamaru.

Day 7 Friday 26 November 2021 QueenstownToday we travel to Queenstown, the magnificent holiday capital of New Zealand. Sitting on Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by towering mountains, its scenery is among the most spectacular in the world.

Day 8 Saturday 27 November 2021 QueenstownWe will enjoy some of the best tourist activities today. We will take a gondola to Bob’s Peak for a magnificent view before sailing on a restored steamship around the Lake. We continue with a visit to Kiwi Wool shop, where we will be able to purchase from a huge range of yarns including naturally, Rare yarns, Crucci and Zealander.

Day 9 Sunday 28 November 2021 QueenstownToday we travel to Arrowtown, a gold town dating from the 1860s. We will have time to explore its historic main street including The Stitching Post, a local shop stocking knitting yarns, quilting fabrics, embroidery and notions, before travelling to the Gibbston Wine Region for a tasting of its world famous pinot noir wine.

Day 10 Monday 29 November 2021 DunedinWe drive to the city of Dunedin this morning. Originally founded by Scottish settlers and known as the “Edinburgh of the South”, it now consists of beautifully preserved buildings overlooking parklands. This afternoon we will visit the historic Jacobean-style Olveston House, containing a treasure trove of art and antiques, as we explore this attractive city. We will enjoy a farewell dinner to say goodbye to Gaille and other tour members.

Day 11 Tuesday 30 November 2021 DepartureThis morning we will have the opportunity to visit Knit World, where there are a wide range of knitting and crochet patterns, yarns and supplies. We travel to the airport to board our early afternoon flight.

Day 1 Saturday 20 November 2021 ChristchurchToday we fly to Christchurch. On arrival we are met by Gaille and our private coach to travel into Christchurch where we will enjoy a sightseeing tour with our driver/ guide. The centre of Christchurch was devastated by the 2011 earthquake. We will drive by landmarks in the old CBD to see how much of the city has been re-built. We will stop at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens with time to explore these beautiful and tranquil gardens. In the evening we will enjoy a welcome dinner to formally meet Gaille and other tour members.

Day 2 Sunday 21 November 2021 ChristchurchThis morning we travel to the 250 acre, fourth generation Black Hills farm for a tour of the farm and the outbuildings, which date from 1863. These gorgeous buildings were restored using traditional materials between 1999 and 2004. This farm produces 100 percent natural dye free yarns and has won numerous awards for its yarn and knitwear designer collections.

Day 3 Monday 22 November 2021 AshburtonThis morning we will visit Outlaw Yarn, New Zealand’s most wanted yarn. We will see luxury yarn with interesting blends that contain alpaca, merino, possum and Polwarth. We continue to Ashburton, where we visit the Yarn Barn, part of the Crafty Cow, a Craft shop. Gaille will give the group shopping advice.

Day 5 Tuesday 26 October 2021 LauncestonWe travel to Launceston today, stopping on the journey at Oatlands where we visit the Lucky Ewe which is packed to the rafters with yarns, fibres, kits, accessories, books and patterns. We continue to Ross, renowned for its beautiful convict-built bridge. We will visit the Wool Centre, which was established as a community centre and as retail space for all things related to wool. We continue to Launceston, where we stay for two nights.

Day 6 Wednesday 27 October 2021 LauncestonToday we explore historic Woolmers Estate, one of the most historically significant heritage properties in Australia and home to the National Rose Garden of Australia. Covering two hectares, the garden provides visitors with a unique journey through the evolution of the rose. The garden is home to all the recognized rose families. We will also see the Heritage Vegetable Garden which houses heirloom vegetables and fruits, not commonly found today. We continue to Waverley Mill, established in 1874, for a tour. We will learn more about the history of the mill and the manufacturing process.

Day 7 Thursday 28 October 2021 DeloraineThis morning we first travel to visit Entally House, the first National Trust house in Australia. Built in 1820 by Thomas Reibey, the house has an elegant garden set in forty-five hectares. We continue with a visit to The Yarn Inn, which supplies high quality yarns, then on to Deloraine to visit YARNS, a silk art work created by more than 300 people in the Deloraine area. We will be ready for the opening of the Tasmanian Craft Fair tomorrow. It boasts over 200 vendors spread around eight venues and six galleries.

Day 8 Friday 29 October 2021 DeloraineToday we enjoy wandering around the Craft Fair. Gaille will point the group in the direction of the most interesting sights. We will enjoy a farewell dinner tonight to say farewell to Gaille and other tour members.

Day 9 Saturday 30 October 2021 DeloraineWe will spend this morning at the Craft Fair. We continue to the airport early afternoon and the tour concludes. Please don’t book flights departing before 3pm.

Day 1 Friday 22 October 2021 HobartTour members will meet at Hobart airport. Please book a flight to arrive in Hobart no later than 2.30pm. We will have a guided tour of picturesque Hobart before visiting Lily and Dot’s store, which features gorgeous crochet blankets, baby clothes, jewellery and exclusive handmade gifts. In the evening we will enjoy a welcome dinner to meet Gaille Smith and other tour members.

Day 2 Saturday 23 October 2021 HobartThis morning we will visit the bustling Salamanca market, where we can buy from 170 stall holders representing artisans, designers and producers. We continue with a visit to Salamanca Wool shop which sells stylish, comfortable and warm garments.

Day 3 Sunday 24 October 2021 HobartAs we meander through the apple-growing area of the aptly named Apple Isle we stop to meet Julie at Highland Cow Farm for a tour of the farm. Julie spins the hair from the Highland cattle, so that it can be woven. This afternoon will be free for individual activity - perhaps a visit to the historic Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

Day 4 Monday 25 October 2021 HobartThis morning we will attend a dyeing workshop at Bombed Yarns. We continue with a visit to The Wool Shop in Moonah which is Tasmanian owned, supplying customers since 1995. Its aim is to provide a wide range of quality yarns to suit all customers and has collections for customers interested in weaving, spinning, carding, felting and dyeing. We will continue with a visit to MONA the controversial Hobart art gallery.
