FAQs

Q: You are currently a Governor. How is the Texas Government a reflection of the U.S.?A: Well, the government is divided into City, Sate, and Nation. Each plays an essential role in the big picture.

The City has a mayor who presides over the City. He has responsibilities such as providing police & fire protection and training, water, electricity, sewage, and public transportation. He also oversees the police department and deals with other local business.

The State has it’s governor, who kind of acts like the state’s president. He vetoes state bills, holds elections, and is in charge of the state militia. He is the head of the executive branch.

The president also holds the power to veto bills, and is in charge of the US army. He can also appoint Supreme Court justices and is the head of the executive branch.

Also looking at the Make-up of the US and Texas Constitution, the below are the sections used by both:

Legislative BranchExecutive BranchJudicial BranchTaxation/RevenueIndividual Rights

As you can see, the Texas government reflects the US in multiple ways. Though some differences can be found, these are usually spotted because of the differences in size that the area covers. Texas is a state, and shares some powers with the US. The easiest similarities to spot are those of the president and governor. The president just has some responsibilities that the governor does not because there only needs to be one person doing the job, or it has to do outside of Texas. The Texas government also has multiple court systems, a legislative, judicial, and executive branch, as does Washington D.C. The governor also heads the executive branch, as does the president. The state can also

collect taxes, as like the Federal government. The governor also heads the state militia, while the President commands the US army. With their like qualities, the State and federal Governments could be called close to a mirror image of each other.

Q: Which Principle of government are reflected in the Texas Constitution and how do they influence the government?A:The make-up of the Texas Constitution is shown here:

Rights, the main builder of our Individual rights. It gives us the freedom of speech, right of the press, freedom of religion, right to bear arms, etc. Individual rights are important for the protection of our people.

Articles III, IV, and V deal with the branches of government, which shows that we use Separation of powers and Checks and Balances. Both of these make sure that our government stays in check, and that no branch can become too powerful. The branches of government are essential to the US.

Article VIII deals with Taxation and Revenue, which ensures federalism, the sharing of government between state and federal governments. It shows that the State, as well as the nation, can collect taxation and revenue for income.

From RepublicanElephant0971:How do the different branches of government meet the needs of citizens? I mean, doesn’t the president do everything?

Governor Hamilton: No, the president does not do everything. In fact, he doesn’t do evenHalf of it.

The legislative branch on the National Scale is made up out of the house of representatives and congress. They meet to make bills and vote on them. They are all very professional and trained in their job. They also check up on the Executive branch by the power to override a veto. Elected officers hold these positions. They help the people by making just laws for them and keeping the laws unbiased.

The executive branch on the National Scale is led by the president. They enforce the laws, so police departments would be included in this branch. The president also has control of the army and can veto a bills. Elected officers hold these positions. The executive branch enforces the laws so that citizens can live In a safe environment and be protected from other harms.

The Judicial branch on the Federal scale is the Supreme Court. They decide if laws are fair. If the laws are not, they can rule unjust and will no longer be a law. The Supreme Court Justices are Elected or chosen by the President. The Judicial helps hold courts so the trials can remain fair so the US can stay in check.

As you can see, the president holds only a certain number of powers. Not only this, but each State has their own set of powers they can use. As you can see, the different branches do different jobs.

Junior’s CommentsFirst a special thank you to who put this all together, my Campaign Manager and Texan Weekly Editor, Tate Brown.

Some people ask how being a Governor helps me qualify for the position as president of the US. I’ve been thinking, and this is what I’ve come up with:

As a governor, I’ve done a lot of things the president has done, except for on a smaller scale. My duties are the following:

Vetoing or Signing State BillsServing as Commander in the State MilitiaEstimating Required Amount of Taxation RevenueDeclaring Elections to fill empty offices

As like the President, I have the responsibility of signing or vetoing laws. I have seen many bills in my terms, and hope to make the best decisions if president.

As governor, I also had control of the Texas Militia. Though it also is on a smaller scale, I feel I know when to send troops in and how to get permission. It is big responsibility.

I also had to estimate the Taxes collected and see if it was enough. I will also have to collect taxes as president.

I hope that the similarities in office and other prior experience will help me earn your vote in the 2012 election.

How To Participate:Some people ask: How Can Texas Citizens participate in government? Well, here is your answer.

The easiest way to participate in government is to vote when 18 and registered. You can help decide who leads our City, State, and Country. A little vote can go a long way. Remember, the candidates are leaning on YOU. You are the decision-maker. Help participate by voting. Pay attention to the race, and you can pick who you would like to vote for.

If you want to particiate in the law-making, or don’t like some laws, your could write a letter or petition to your senator, suggesting a bill or asking for a better law. If you do influence your Representative, you could take pride in being someone who helped make a law. If you want to add suggestions to your local government, you can watch the news and learn about the current situations in the world and write a letter to your Senator as well. Also, if you are old enough, go to jury duty when called and help the legislative branch with a trial. Make some decisions, and be a good citizen. You will show that you are responsible and will also come out as a patriotic citizen. For those REALLY serious about this question, you could even join the army, navy, air force, or even get a degree and enter into a branch. A milder way to do these are send letters to the army, or bake cookies for your local fire or police department. Other helpful things will work as well.

As you can see in this example, there are many different ways to participate in the government around you. you just have to be willing to stick to something and do it.

Help Governor Junior Hamilton Make Decisions!

Junior in Recent News:

As Junior Hamilton travels across the country, one of the places he stopped was Houston, Texas, where his other 5 siblings are staying. When asked why he was doing this he replied: “ Family is the most important thing to me. Nothing should ever pull families apart, unless it could be of harm. Let us all feel peace within our own families.” As he shows here, Junior Hamilton is a firm believer in the family and education for kids of all ages. We build upon them for the future. He stayed at his family’s house and asked to

This is Where YOUR kids are valued.

Home FAQs From the People Junior's Comments How to Participate Pics Unit Questions

As a Governor, I firmly believe that family and kids are the most important things in the world. We need to protect them and keep them safe from any harm. I believe in the No Child Left Behind grant, and rights to an education for citizen school age children. Remember, today’s kids will grow up to be tomorrow’s future. It is our responsibility to take care of them the best way we can so that we won’t have to deal with the guilt of not teaching our children well. Treat them like they are what they are: special. There’s no other word for it. Nurture your child with LOVE.

Junior and his 5 siblings.

No Capital Punishment.

Home FAQs From the People Junior's Comments How to Participate Pics Unit Questions

No one, no matter how guilty they are, should be killed for their crimes. It shows a sign of cruel and no-hearted people in the government, and it also costs 1.1 million more than just putting them in jail for life.

Also, if the wrong person is executed, it is almost as the government has committed a crime. That does not need to be the case. If a real murderer is called innocent, then we just release them back on the street to kill again. This should not be the case. This is a matter of life and death.

As you can see I believe Capital Punishment is a very cruel crime and should not be legal in the US. If we follow in my way, millions will be saved and killers will not go back on the street. Next

Political Parties and voting.

Home FAQs From the People Junior's Comments How to Participate Pics Unit Questions

The political parties are groups of people who share the same beliefs about government and politics. They try to make the people of the state vote for them, say Texas. The parties usually have different sides on issues, and the people pick the party that portrays their beliefs most. The people vote usually for the elected person in their party they say they believe in. Sometimes, though, the person swings back and forth and votes not for a party, but for the person they like better that year.

By picking a side on certain ‘big’ topics, the runners for president try to persuade the Texas citizen of their beliefs. By doing they, they hope to conquer votes for themselves. The people vote for who they think will carry out their beliefs in office.
