SUBJECT: DG Uni-strut Requirement for Interior Graphic Package

AUDIENCE: DG Developers, Project Managers, Construction Rep, A and E and Store Planning

ISSUE SUMMARY:

The intent of this Technical Bulletin is to announce the requirement for additional purlin mounted uni-strut for our Interior Graphic Package. Seven (7) 5’-0” +/- long uni-struts, that will bridge between purlins at the roof deck, are required to position our signs in the proper locations. Two (2) uni-struts for Food & Beverage with the center anchor being installed by DG vendor to the existing cable tray. Two (2) uni-struts for Health & Beauty with the center anchor being installed by DG vendor to the existing cable tray. Three (3) uni-struts for the Dollar General sign over register area.

Each uni-strut will require one 1/16” air-craft wire with crimps, all installed by GC. The air-craft wire will hang to 7’-0” AFF. Pre-punched 1 ¼” galvanized angles are an approved equal to uni-strut.

PROJECTS AFFECTED:

      All open ceiling DG2’s will receive this extra uni‐strut for our graphic package. 

 

TIMELINE FOR IMPLEMENTATION:

Stores that will fixture in January 2015 and after will receive the extra uni-strut.

BUDGET IMPLICATIONS:

The 7 additional uni-struts have cost expectations of under $100.00.

Supporting Documents:

Attached are the required points of suspension for both the 9,100 (DG13-7) and 10,640 (DG13-8) prototypes. Field adjust the uni-strut lengths to accomplish these anchor points.
