  • Nau mai haere mai r - welcomeTe Pkaitahi Reo Mori (Reo Rua) [Kaupae 2] NZ Certificate in Te Reo Mori [Level 2] is designed to provide konga (students) with the language skills required to communicate, with little support, in familiar everyday contexts, and in Mori environments where they feel comfortable.

    Successful completion of this certificate allows students to enrol in Te

    Pkaitahi Reo Mori (Reo Rua) (Kaupae 3) the following semester/year.

    SUBJECT AREAS: Intermediate [Level 3] Te Reo Mori Mori and marae activities (may include noho marae) Work-based activities.

    YOUR FUTURE CAREER AND STUDY OPPORTUNITIESSkills developed in this programme will enhance chances of gaining employment in a number of fields where a basic knowledge of Te Reo Mori is required.

    This programme provides a foundation pathway for on-going learning with the Te Pkaitahi Reo Mori (Reo Rua) [Kaupae 3] NZ Certificate in Te Reo Mori [Level 3].

    This is a guide only based on previous years. All costs quoted include GST and student services levy. Fees apply to New Zealand Citizens and New Zealand permanent residents only.

    TIMETABLEYour study time will be made up of contact time (class times, tutorials, industry-based learning) and non-contact time (your own individual study time, online learning).

    CONTACT TIMEOn campus classes are usually scheduled between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm Monday to Thursday, OR one weekly night class and three weekend Wnanga. Day/s to be confirmed.

    ENTRY CRITERIAThis is an open entry programme which means no formal qualifications are required. You must be aged 16 or over and you are required to have a reasonable reading level in order to cope with the programme and to carry out written instruction.

    A personal interview may be part of the application process.

    ENTRY WITH CREDITYou may already have some knowledge or skills (from other study or experience) that can be recognized as credit towards completing this programme. If credit is awarded, you may no longer be deemed a full-time student for allowances. Please enquire about this first before you enrol.

    FACILITIES

    HAWKES BAYThe marae complex is primarily a teaching facility for Mori language and culture courses. Mori Studies facilities include a wharenui, kitchen, dining room, ablution area and a computer suite.

    TAIRWHITIMost classes are at Te Whatukura on Cobden Road. Facilities include a kitchen, dining area and a computer suite. Video conferencing equipment is available.

    ASSESSMENTSAssessments include oral, written and practical assignments. This programme is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) but the programme does not consist of NZQA unit standards.

    STUDENT SERVICES LEVYThe Student Services Levy is a compulsory non-tuition fee that is charged to students enrolled at EIT. The levy is to contribute to the provision of quality student services that support learning. The funds received by EIT from the levy are ring-fenced, meaning they can only be spent on student services.

    STUDENT LOANS AND ALLOWANCESStudyLink is a service of the Ministry of Social Development. Apply well before your programme begins (even if you haven't been accepted yet) so you'll be ready to get your payments when you need them most. Check out studylink.govt.nz or phone 0800 88 99 00. A Student Allowance is a weekly payment to help you with living expenses. It doesn't have to be paid back. A Student Loan is made up of three parts compulsory fees, course-related costs and living costs. You have to pay these back.
