• Directing – limited skills, need to be told specifically what to do

• Coaching – has skills and can progress without supervision, but needs new challenges

• Support – not as skilled as they think and will still need guidance

• Delegation – reached level of competence and want contact for occasional feedback

• Adjust your plan to the team, not the team to the plan
