What is a screen capture? (AKA screen dump or screen shot)

It is when you take a picture of what is displayed on your screen. You are then able to put it onto your clipboard.

When you screen capture, you will use the Print Screen button. It is located on your keyboard to the right of the F12 and near the scroll lock button.

1. On your computer, go to our district’s webpage.

2. Push the Screen Print button. You didn’t see anything happen… but it did. You just captured a picture of your screen .

3. Open Microsoft Paint.

4. Go to Edit Paste.

5. Voila! You will see picture of screen that you captured in Microsoft Paint.

Now you cut a portion of the picture you want to keep and save to new screen in Microsoft Paint for further editing. Save picture. Then you can cut and paste the final picture to a word document, email, power point…etc.. It’s that easy!
