VATAYANI TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES BOS meeting at Computer Science & Engineering Department Board of studies for Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology was conducted in Computer Science & Engineering Department W-11 , 9:30 A.M. on 8 Feb 2014. BOS meeting at Computer Science & Engineering Department

Board of studies for Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology was conducted in Computer Science & Engineering Department W-11 , 9:30 A.M. on 8 Feb 2014. A news letter for TEQIP-II

Academic audit of teaching learning process of odd semester 2013 was conducted on 11th & 12th Jan 2014. External experts evaluated performance on parameters like quality of course material used by faculties, Quality of question papers, quality of TAE, student feedback, result analysis, faculty interaction and advanced topic. Dr. R. S. Jangid, Professor, IIT, Bombay was present as external expert. He evaluated subject files of UG and PG subjects and interacted with faculties. According to the criteria markings were done and suggestions were given by Dr. R. S. Jangid.

Pre-registration seminar conducted for Ph.D. scholars in Civil Engg. for Jan-2014

at GHRCE, Nagpur

G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur is approved research center for Higher Learning of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. To bring seriousness among the Research Scholars and to check efforts put in by the candidate for problem identification before registering for doctoral studies, GHRCE is conducting Pre-registration seminar.

Pre-Registration seminar was held on 1st Jan and 8th Jan 2014 for Civil Engineering Department in departmental library. Mr. M. P. Bhorkar, Mr. S. S. Sanghai,Mr. S. S. Solanke, Ms. Bharti Umekar presented their research topic in front of experts. The experts suggested corrections in their title, objectives and methodology of work.

Dr. P.Y. Pawade (HoD Civil), Dr. S. B. Jaju (Dean R&D), Dr. B. V. Khode, , Dr. D. J. Tidke (Director’s Nominee) and Mr. S. S. Sanghai (R&D Coordinator) were present.

PhD Pre-registration Seminar given by Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Department

Prof.A.A.Patil of Electrical Engineering Department on successfully clearing PET, delievered pre-registration seminar on 4/1/14. The title of her project is “Some studies on stability enhancement of a power system with the application of various FACTS devices”. Her project guide is Dr.B.S.Umre of VNIT,Nagpur.

The experts for the seminar were Dr.S.G.Tarnekar, Dr.S.B.Jaju, Dr.D.J.Tidke, Dr.P.M.Diagavane. They gave valuable suggestions & also encouraged Prof.Patil in her endeavors.

Engineering and Transportation

Engineering at GHRCE, Nagpur

A Progress seminar was conducted in PG department of Environmental Engineerin on 15th Jan 2013 and Transportation Engineering on 18th Jan 2014 at Departmental Library (F-15). Seminar was conducted for the students of M. Tech. IV semester Environmental Engineering and Transpotation Engineering.

Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik, Deputy Director, GHRCE was present for the seminar. Dr. P. Y. Pawade, HOD, Civil Deptt, Dr. B. V. Khode and faculties of civil engineering guiding PG students were also present in seminar. Student presented their own dissertation research work progress on PPT presentation in the seminar.

By Research Progress Seminar on 23rd Jan 2014. Ms. Swati Tikhale presented their seminar on topic “Green Building Design Concept- Study, Implementation and Comparative Study Over Conventional Buildings “. The seminars were conducted in the presence of internal experts Dr. P. B. Nagarnaik, Dr. P. Y. Pawade and Dr. B. V. Khode. During the presentations, their progress was verified and discussions about their future line of action were carried out.

Progress Seminar conducted in Civil Engg. Dept. for UG Students

A Progress seminar was conducted in UG department of Civil Engineering on 24th Jan 2014 at Departmental Library (F-15). Seminar was conducted for the students of Seventh Semester Civil Engineering. The students are currently working in various companies for their final year project work. Hence, purpose of seminar was to monitor their progress of work and provide proper guidelines to the students.

Mr. K. D. Joshi, Asso. Professor, GHRCE was present for the seminar. Dr. P. Y. Pawade, HOD, Civil Deptt, Dr. B. V. Khode and faculties of civil engineering department guiding UG students were also present in seminar.

PhD Pre-Submission Seminar of Shakti Awaghad on the topic “DESIGNING APPROACH FOR TRANSCODING MULTIMEDIA OVER WIRELESS CHANNELS AND IT’S APPLICABILITY FOR MOBILE DEVICES” under the expert guidance of Dr. S.B.Pokle was organized on dated 18th Jan 2014 at Dr. Swgatam Das professor, ISI Kolkata was present as Expert during the seminar.

WORKSHOP ON OUTCOMES BASED

ACCREDITATION PROCESS &

PARAMETERS AT G. H. RAISONI

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,

NAGPUR

National Board of Accreditation (NBA) New Delhi, in collaboration with G. H. RAISONI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, NAGPUR (An Autonomous Institute under UGC Act 1956, NBA Accredited & NAAC Accredited with “A” grade) organized workshop on Outcomes Based Accreditation Process & Parameters in two phases. Phase I was organized on 6 January 2014 and Phase 2 from 11-13 January 2014.

In this workshop, the features of new Outcome Based Accreditation have been discussed with the stakeholders. They informed about various dimensions, requirements, process and parameters of Outcome Based Accreditation of their programmes as per the new system. This Workshop was attended by stakeholders, Directors, Principals & senior faculty members from different institutions & assisted with new changes in accreditationprocedure.

This workshop is hosted by G. H. RAISONI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, NAGPUR (An Autonomous Institute under UGC Act 1956, NBA Accredited & NAAC Accredited with “A” grade).

In the First phase on 6 January 2014, workshop was executed as per schedule from NBA.

Workshop was inaugurated in hands of Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director, G. H. RAISONI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, NAGPUR, NBA resource person, Dr. L.G. Malik, training Center Coordinator, Participants were Management Council member, RTM Nagpur University, Head of Departments & senior faculty members from different institutions & GHRCE.

Anchoring during inauguration and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Latesh Malik, Professor, Head of Department, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Nagpur.

Total participants present in workshop was 18 , out of them 4 were external participants for phase 1.

Workshop was started by webinar from NBA. Participant found very fruitful session be Dr. A. Abudabir and asked questions through chat.

Post lunch session was conducted by Dr. P.R. Bajaj and discussed vision, Mission, PEO, PO and course outcomes. He conducted interactive session and solved queries of participants.

Phase 2 was organized from 11-13 January 2014. 18 participants have attended , out of them four were external participants. Workshop was executed as per schedule given by NBA.

Valedictory function was conducted on 13 January 2014. Dr. Latesh Malik proposed a vote of thanks, participants were asked to give feedback. Both phase 1 and 2 was conducted successfully.At the end of workshop participants were asked to

fill feedback forms. Organizers of this workshop Dr.

Nodal workshop-Phase-I attended by Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Department

Prof.V.P.Rajderkar & Prof.M.S.Singh attended a workshop on “Outcome based Accreditation process & parameters” for stake holders, evaluators & master trainers on 3/2/14 organized by G.H.Raisoni College of Engineering,Nagpur.

Dr.P.R.Bajaj,Director of the institute was the resource person for this worshop. Dr.A.Koteshwara Rao, Dr.A.Abudhair were the main speakers.The workshop was started with how to frame the vision & mission of the institute, based on which the department’s vision & mission was to be designed. This is followed by the stress on why the PEO’s & PO’s have to be in line with the GA’s (Graduate Attributes) which have been taken from Washington Accord. From the PEO’s & PO’s, CO’s are drawn for the curriculum.

The programme was compared by Dr.L.G.Malik.

Demonstration of “Optical Communication Kits” by FALCON

Private Limited

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering GHRCE, Nagpur organized a demonstration on “Optical Fiber Kits” on 18th

January 2014 by FALCON Private Limited. The Engineer Mr. Kamlesh Wakchaure from FALCON explained the faculties about the working of the kits. There are in all 6 kits in one set which includes Fiber Optic Analog Transmitter kit, Fiber Optic Analog receiver kit, Fiber Optic analog and digital modulation/demodulation kit, Fiber Optic advance and digital communication kit, Function Generator and Fiber Optic Power Meter. The Engineer performed different experiments on these kits.

Two weeks ISTE Workshop on “Signal and System” attended by Faculties

Prof. A. S. Titarmare, Prof. R. T. Bankar, Prof, P. P. Moon, Prof. B. R. Vibhale, Prof. S. M. Choudhary and Prof. A. R. Deshmukh, Faculties of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering attended Two weeks ISTE workshop conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, under NMEICT (National Mission on Education through ICT)(MHRD. Govt. of India) on “Signal and System” at GHRCE, Nagpur during 2nd -12th January

2014 held at G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering. Dr. Gadre, Professor, IIT Kharagpur was the Principal Coordinator of the workshop and he delivered lectures through A-VIEW and other participants watched live telecast of the lectures.

Three days Workshop on”NBA” attended by Faculties

Prof. S. R. Dixit and Prof. S. K. Tadse, Faculties of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering attended One day and Three days workshop on “Training of Evaluators/ Resource Persons on Outcome Based Accreditation PHASE-I and PHASE-II” respectively held at G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering from 11th -13th January 2014. Dr. P. R. Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Nagpur was the coordinator & resource person for this workshop.

IETE seminar (ppt) competition

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering GHRCE, Nagpur Organized a IETE seminar (ppt) competition on following topics. 1) Info security management 2) 4G Technology 3) E-Waste Management. Seminar competition was arranged in college on 25th Jan 2014 in Room no. S-08 from 10:00am under IETE ISF. The winner of this competition was Mr. Dinesh Nandekar & Ms. Snehal Inmulwar from 3rd year VI Sem ETC Department. Topic of their presentation was E-Waste Management. The winner of college would be competeting in the second round of competition with the winners of other colleges on 1st Feb 2014.Entries form ETC & ETRX department where invited for the event. Mr. P. D. Saraf of CSE department was invited as judge for the event. The

faculties of ETC, department with M.Tech Students of Communication Engineering were present for this seminar competition. Prof. D. P. Choudhari was the coordinator for the competition

Nagpur-16 has organized one day workshop on Arduino hands -on for second semester of all department.

Department of Electronics Engineering, G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur-16 has organized one day workshop “Arduino hands –on”for second semester of all department on dated at 11 January 2014.

The Workshop aims to enhance knowledge base of student with the latest advancements and emerge directions in the areas of advanced Microcontroller application as ARDUINO based open hardware and software platform. Through workshop, student gained to adopt flexibility to design, simulate and implement of advanced engineering application with open source ARDUINO based open hardware and software platform. Workshop was framed with ARDUINO based merged basic engineering applications to withstand with academic requirement.

The Workshop received good response from fourth semester student and received total 30 registrations. In all 30 were registered which were arranged in 3 different practical hand-on sessions. After inauguration, technical sessions were started. At end of Workshop, All participants were certified with the workshop with toolkit.

A Guest Lecture on “Smart Grid ” by A.R. Abhyankar was organized on 5/2/14 for 8th Sem BE

and 2nd & 4th Sem M.Tech (IPS) students of Electrical Engineering Department. About 150 students were present.

Dr. A.R. Abhyankar is Assistant Professor in IIT, Delhi. His research areas include: Power System Restructuring Issues, Power System Analysis and Optimization..He elaborated the need for smart grid in recent times. This was followed by and interactive session where the students asked many questions regarding grid restructuring.

A Guest Lecture on “Power System Stability” by Dr.D.Tukaram was organized on 1/2/14 for 2nd & 4th

Sem M.Tech (IPS) students and Faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department.

Dr.D.Tukaram is Professor at IISc, Bangalore. He is member of many professional societies like IEEE, IEE, etc. He is Visiting Faculty at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok. His research areas include:Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in Power Systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), Reactive Power Control, Distribution Automation, De-regulated Power Systems, Voltage Stability,Transients in EHV system. During this lecture Prof.Tukaram made the audience aware of the restructuring of Power System using FACTS devices.

The programme co-ordinator was Prof.J.G.Chaudhari. Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof.H.S.Dalvi.

Both Ravikumar Tiwari and Dipanshu Payasi got short-listed to represent RTMNU at state level AVISHKAR event at

Ms. Shreya Gole of VI Semester is awarded as Best Delegate by exhibiting extra ordinary performance in the Twelve day Workshop on “Aptitude Development” held for undergraduate students from 14th December to 25th December 2013 organized by Society for Exploring and Enriching Excellence (SEEE), Nagpur Institute of Technology, Nagpur. Interactive session on Google products by Ms. Neha Thakur

An interactive session on Google products such as google search, mail, apps, android, Nexus, etc. and Google apps for education was conducted in 4 departments ( CSE, ETC, ETRX, IT) for the students of 2nd Year by Ms. Neha Thakur and her team of VI Semester ETC department of GHRCE, Nagpur. She is the Google Ambassador for the year 2013-14. The students were also parted with knowledge about better and efficient use of id’s provided under the

Workshop attended by Students in TECHFEST-14 held at IIT Pawai

Mr. R. Rohit and Ms. Pranauti Deshmukh students of VI semester Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering participated in International Robotics Challenge, TECHFEST-14 held at IIT Pawai from 2nd January to 5th January 2014. They built two Robots one of which was Autonomous Grid Solver to solve the Grid while removing the obstacles and making its path through the grid. The other was Manual Robot which helped the autonomous robot to pass through while it had its own task of destroying the barrier outside grid with cannon.--------------------------------------------------------------

Pravin Katekhaye,Prasad Vaidya, Praneeta Kalaskar, Sayli Rajote, Neha Kashiwar VI semester students of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, GHRCE, Nagpur participated in two days workshop on “Sixth Sense Robotics” held at YCCE, Nagpur on 4th and 5th January 2014. They built a “Gesture Controlled Robot” using Image Processing Technology. They were winner of the Zonal Round. Mr. Ankush Bhagat, Mr.Ketan Kalambe, Mr.Kartik argulwar and Mr.Ankur Tandale from M. Tech. Communication Engineering, G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur participated in recently held Vibrant Gujarat–2014 on 10-11th January at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. This years theme of Vibrant Gujarat was titled as ‘National Educarion Summit-Towards Educating Young India’. The National education Summit started with the inauguration by Chief minister of Gujarat Shri. Narendra Modi and then followed by speeches from Rajan welukar(VC Mumbai University), Dinesh Singh(VC Delhi University),Education Minister of Gujarat shri. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and other dignitaries. The Summit mainly focussed on Problems in Education System, Imparting Quality Education and Opportunities for Higher Education In India. The summit marked the presence of around 5500 students from India and Abroad. The Vibrant Gujarat-2014 came to an end with the grand celebration of Swami Vievekanand’s 150th Birth Anniversary at the Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.--------------------------------------------------------------

Patents filled by Student

1. Mr. Niraj Choudhary student of VIII semester ETC department, GHRCE, Nagpur filed patent on “BARS- Bike Accidental Rescue System” on 3rd October 2013. This system will reduce the death ration per accidents on bikes. The system is under testing.

2. Mr. Niraj Choudhary ,Mr.Parv Choubey, Miss Surbhi Mishra, Miss Shruti Sangidwar students of VIII semester ETC department, GHRCE, Nagpur filed patent on “Industrial Automation Using Transformation Technology ” under the guidance of Prof. Kapil K. Jajulwar. The grant and additional facilities required for this proposed design is provided by G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur. This Robot is used to reduce the efforts from worker. This Robot is based on Multi Tasking Platform. The system is under testing.

Ravikumar Tiwari and Dipanshu Payasi of M.Tech.(VLSI) IV sem represented RTMNU at state level Avishkar 2013-14,NMU Jalgaon. Dipanshu Payasi got 2nd Prize for his project model “Brain Machine Interface System For Person With Disabilities”. 8th Maharashtra State Inter-University Research Convention''AVISHKAR-2013",NMU,Jalgaon was held on 16-18 January 2014.

Students of Electronic Engineering Departments Excels in Aeromodelling in

IIT Techfest Mumbai

Lav Kumar Pande and Shailesh Lede of Final year of the Electronics Engineering Department of G.H.Raisoni college of Engineering secured “2nd” position in Aeromodelling competition held at prestigious IIT- Bombay during TechFest-14 under the banner of Aviator Design and Flying.

Students from various IIT’s, NIT’s and other reputed colleges participate every year. This year around 90 teams participated there, the task this time is to built a flying model from scratch and make it fly and perform several aerobatics. Participants were asked to built a plan having load nor more than 500grams and a wingspan nor more than 90cms, carry a maximum load on their model and perform a safe takeoff and landing by forming a horizontal eight loop across two polls. Top 15 teams on the basis of points scored are sent to Flying Challenge. Flying challenge consist of performing several maneuvers like loop , hammer head, full Cuban eight, invert flying. On the basis of points score maximum winners are decided. Students received certificates and cash of Rs.6000/-

GUJARAT- NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL SUMMIT”

Bhagyashree Deshpande from third year represented the Electronics department of G.H.Raisoni college of Engineering in VIBRANT GUJARAT- NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL SUMMIT held on 10th and 11th of January 2014. The summit was held in MAHATMA MANDIR, Gandhinagar. Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated this grand event. The speakers for this summit were highly qualified esteemed scholars from in and outside India. Mr. Welurkal,vice chancellor of Mumbai University, prof.Latha Ramchand, university of Houston, Mr.Charles Zukoski,University of buffalo, Mr.Sudhir Jain , Director, IIT Gandhinagar were few of them.

After the inauguration there were serious Panel discussions held parallel in various seminar Halls of Mahatma Mandir each session followed by an interactive question answer rounds. Discussions were held regarding the past, present and future of Education system of India, the involvement of youth in development of this country, policies to generate inquisitiveness among the students and helping them innovate. It was a platform on which many problems faced by different streams of education were put forward and discussed and found a solution to. Various policies in education have been promised to be reformed and new policies were declared. Thus, this summit was proven to be a boon for the Educational system of India.

Cement Products Pvt. Ltd., MIDC, Nagpur

Civil Engineering Dept. of G. H. R. C. E., Nagpur Organized Site Visit to Nagpur Cement Products Pvt. Ltd., MIDC, Nagpur for fourth semester B. E. students on 28th January 2014. The purpose of the visit was to show various processes involved in manufacturing of cement pipes. The Plant Manager and engineers were very helpful and explained all the tests as well as processes involved in manufacturing of cement pipes. Various tests on cement pipes like hydraulic test, three-edge strength test etc. were explained and shown to students. It was very beneficial visit for students and enhanced their knowledge. 140 students were present in this visit. Under the guidance of Head Dr.P.Y.Pawade, students were accompanied by Prof. D. B. Jasutkar, Prof. N.H.Pitale, Prof. M.P.Bhorkar, Prof. N. A. Maske, Prof.P.B.Patil and Prof.S.S.Sanghai from Civil Engg. Department.

Civil Engineering Dept. of G. H. R. C. E., Nagpur Organized Site Visit to Tejomaya Ventures, Wanadongri, Nagpur for fourth semester B. E. students on 29th January 2014. It is a proposed residential complex in the area, having G+4 storey structure.The purpose of the visit was to show various components and of building. The site Engineers were very helpful and explained the structural plans to students. Students learned about various design and execution aspects of the structure. It was very beneficial visit for students and enhanced their knowledge. 135 students were present in this visit. Under the guidance of Head Dr.P.Y.Pawade, students were accompanied by Prof. D. B. Jasutkar, Prof. N.H.Pitale, Prof. M.P.Bhorkar, Prof. N. A. Maske, Prof.P.B.Patil and Prof.S.S.Sanghai from Civil Engg. Department.

GHRCE, Nagpur

The students of 6th Sem BE, Sec B (EE) of GHRCE, visited Bajaj steel on 25th Jan 2014. Total 72 students were present.
