CORNEATM. A real Breakthrough in LED Technology

Ample and well directed light is the agent that you need most in your life.

Walking through the suburban streets at night, you can’t help wondering why somebody hasn’t yet invented street lights which can spread a wide beam of light to compensate for and cover all the dark spots between light poles.

Lights are products that are with you all the time, helping you at your workplace, relaxing you at home and making reading a pleasure. With this unique relationship people have with their lights, we take changing them and improving them really seriously. When we were ready to create CORNEATM we didn’t want to just make a new light; we wanted to make a much better light.

CORNEATM is the result of this approach.

When you think about it, it probably makes a lot of sense. If humans can wear contact lenses, why can’t LED lights wear them as well?

We have done just that. We have completely redesigned a series of our lights and for the first time ever, we have used contact lenses instead of reflectors. With this unique approach

and inspired by nature’s design of the eye of the tree-frog, we have been able to shape contact lenses to generate Single or Twin-Beams of light, coming out of the

same LED source. As the tree-frog is able to do dynamically, by forming and manufacturing different shapes of interchangeable lenses, we created a

different lens (cornea) for each application of our lights, so you can see more light directed to where is actually needed.

By also getting rid of the easy to corrode reflectors and the un-necessary hoods, our

CORNEATM series are the thinnest, lightest and more compact as compared to any of the equivalent luminosity flood or street lights we've ever built. To achieve a design this compact we’ve had to make many of the components inside the design, smaller. We redesigned our arrays, heatsinks and had to retool for the entire series. It took an incredible cross-collaborative effort and mathematical guidance from the Pantheon of Ancient Rome to achieve equal illumination of space from a single source without reflectors.

From the beginning we new we wanted to bring the best water and particle resistance possible to the CORNEATM Series. So we have created a completely and totally sealed design (rated IP65/IP67).

What this does is, it enables their use in the most demanding and harshest applications such as cement plants, steel mills and coal-firing power generating plants. These lights are basically self-cleaning as rain water runs through the shell. If salt of other residues are deposited on these lights, periodically they only require a quick water squirt from below by a water pressure-cleaner, from a 1-man-driven ordinary commercial vehicle, stopping just momentarily below the light.

In pedestrian-crossings and footpath applications it is essential to precisely control the width and length of light beams and it is imperative to direct light where light is actually needed and away from where it is not, with greater efficiency. To eliminate glare onto security cameras, vehicles and surrounding properties, specifiers are demanding products which incorporate field-interchangeable contact lenses, offering precise Optical Control and field-selectable application flexibility.

This new series of Street lights is designed for the first time ever using contact lenses, eliminating the easy-to-corrode reflectors and the un-necessary hoods and gaskets.

CORNEATM is the thinnest, lightest and most compact LED Street light ever built. The body is all solid, powder-coated, rust-proof aluminium in honeycomb design resulting in a Fit-for-Purpose, die-cast body to resist road-side vibration and to provide superb heat dissipation, a clear distinction between CORNEATM and other products on the market.

You’ll notice a big difference to any previous design of flood and street light devices. The conventional approach of designing IP65 products uses rubber seals and clips. With the CORNEATM design, all these components which break down or rust with time are un-necessary. This is one of the real breakthroughs that enable the Series’ slim designs and long mechanical life.

We are also introducing the all new 60W, 75W and 100W, LED4Life designed, LED chip Arrays. They deliver performance that’s up to twice as bright as the previous generation. You’ll experience a big increase in performance in everything you use CORNEATM for. Especially in the way they deliver more detail and boost contrast in motion intensive applications. The new Super-bright 120lm/watt arrays are so power efficient that they increase performance while also increasing their own effective life. Given the dimensions of the CORNEATM and all the capability that we wanted to add, we needed to manage size and cooling very carefully. We’ve created the new, honeycomb design, die-cast body to resist road-side vibration and to provide superb heat dissipation. The body is all solid, powder-coated aluminium, so it is Fit-for-Purpose and designed for today’s demanding uses.

We also moved to a hardened, vandal proof, glass lens which is stronger and more durable than the previous impact plastic, this really protects the optics and keeps objects and workplace looking bright.

We don’t think the level of invention has ever been matched by any other lighting product.

The seamless integration between hardware, optics and electronics, makes everything you do with CORNEATM just feel more solid, yet lightweight and dependable.

With its amazing 45°, 60°, 90° and 120° (120° x 75°) Single or Twin-beam variety, you just feel like you can do more.

Using the 120° x 75° Twin-beam lens, they are great for street lighting, providing much higher levels of evenly spread light both along the footpath and on the street. Using the classic 60° or 90° Single-beam, they are great for external flood or wall-washing applications.

All the physical designs are fantastic.

The entry level ‘Dish’ design (available in 60W & 100W) is one of the most elegant designs we have ever created. It’s a great flood light which can be used as a low-bay as well.

If you look at the elegant ‘Tennis racket’ design (available in 120W, 150W & 210W), it’s a complete different experience to what you've ever had before in street light appearance.

When looking at the ‘Space ship’ design (available in 150W), you start to understand why we make it easy to achieve what you require.

The flagship and most powerful ‘Pool scooper’ squarish design (available in 150W

and 210W), is supplied with either pole mount or wall/ceiling mounting brackets and can be used as a high-bay as well. This feature is simply awesome. Along with the experience of actually using these lights, what makes them so unique, is how they look on your site, the materials they are been made with and the remarkable precision with which they have been built. Never before have we built a product with this extraordinary level of fit and finish. We’ve developed special manufacturing processes that are our most complex and ambitious.

Starting with the aluminium, we die cast or machine all of the surfaces of the shell. We then polish and texture them so they are so exact, that you are left with near

mirror finish for the best powder coating result. These techniques, apart from providing for a rust-proof and UV-Resistant body, create a dramatic distinction between CORNEATM and other products available on the market.

This manufacturing precision extends to how these many pieces seamlessly come together. The optics and the in-built Universal (85-265VAC, 50-60Hz) Climatic-adaptive drivers are matched to the housing through a highly sophisticated process. We believe that going to such extreme lengths is the only way that we can deliver this level of quality.

To create the new CORNEATM, we began with a design that we really loved, but to build it, to implement it, we had to look way beyond what we knew to be possible. It took all of our learning, our best thinking, to realise something so simple, so clear and yet so truly extraordinary.
