    About the Band OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) is a theatre/comedy/cabaret with 2 performers that play live instruments. In essence, it is a rock concert played by character comedians. The band uses a child size 4-piece drum kit, mini electric guitars and a keytar (keyboard). The show also includes dance/movement sequences.

    OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) are a brother/sister indie rock duo from Berlin.

    Depending on the size of the tour, and whether it is a stand-alone date or a series of performances, the band

    Accommodation For stays where the Presenter is to supply accommodation (please refer to the Performance Agreement/Contract for these details), the Presenter is to provide a single-room in minimum four-star accommodation for each member of OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE). This is an Australian Union Requirement. For stays of one week or longer, accommodation with cooking facilities is ideal.

    Local Travel & Ground Transport A large vehicle (SUV or wagon) is required for transporting touring company and equipment to and from the venue. This vehicle must accommodate 8 cases, 3 of which are oversized.

    Ideally the accommodation provided should be walking distance (no more than 10 minutes) from the venue (or easily accessible via public transport, with no longer than 15 minutes commute between accommodation and venue). Should this not be possible, the Presenter is to provide adequate ground transport (such as a venue pool car, hire car or taxis) for use by OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE).

    General Information

    General Information and Warnings This show can be performed up to 7 times per week, with both matinees and evening shows possible (a turnaround of at least 90 minutes (1.5 hours) between performances is required). The performance is appropriate for people over the age of 13 years. There are four current warnings: performances feature the use of strobe-like effects, strong language, adult themes and smoke/haze effects.

    Interpreters In locations where English is not the primary language, the Presenter must make at least one interpreter available to the Production Staff at all working times. This includes all work calls, rehearsals and all shows. The interpreter/s must be completely bilingual (English and local language) and familiar with technical theatre terminology. Under NO circumstances may the interpreters be members of the working crew.

    Performance Rider Please ensure that filtered or bottled water is available to the OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) team during all production and performance calls (bump-in, rehearsals, performances and bump-out).

    Access to a refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities is appreciated.

    Safety and Insurance The continued safety of all persons involved with the production is of the utmost importance. OTTO &

    ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) will have in place appropriate levels of insurance; including (but not limited to)

    Travel Insurance, Public Liability Insurance, Theft & Damage Insurance, Freight Insurance. Please contact the

    Producer for copies of Certificates of Currency.

    Performance Information

    Generic Production Schedule – Full Show Below is the generic schedule for the get-in and sound-check for a full OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE). For a short (10-15 minute) festival slot, we require only a short sound-check or line-check and house lighting.

    This schedule is based on the premise that a full PA install (to system check at show volume) and full lighting pre-rig (to flash out) has been completed prior to the band’s arrival. If this has not been completed, additional time for the completion of these installations will be required prior to the band’s get-in. A four-hour get-in and technical time allocation is not sufficient for a full OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) show.

    Performance Information

    Turnarounds For venues with multiple performance slots over one day/night, a minimum 20 minutes to set and line-check and a minimum 15 minutes to strike the show is required.

    FOH Information Each performance runs for approximately 75 minutes, with no interval.

    Audience Numbers are defined by the scope of the venue. Latecomer policy will be advised prior to the first performance, following arrival at the venue as this is determined by the specifics of the venue itself.

    Venue Information The show is designed with tourability in mind. It can be performed in a theatre, a spiegeltent, a bar…just about anywhere.

    A flat (unraked), preferably-timber floor is required, with a minimum 6m in depth and 8m in width of clear stage space. A clearance of 4m (minimum) to the underside of the lighting grid is required. 2m wing space either side is preferable – please advise if this is not possible, as a slight shuffling of the stage layout may be necessary. The venue must be able to be blacked out fully, at all times.

    It is expected that the venue’s Technical Specifications, as supplied to the OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE), are up-to-date and all listed elements available for use by OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE). Please inform the Producer as soon as possible if any elements are unavailable or not as described.

    Back-of-House Requirements The Presenter is required to supply:

    Ø Dressing Room Facilities for two performers, as per the details below Ø Laundry Facilities (with iron, ironing board, washing & drying facilities for laundering costumes) Ø Production Office Facilities (with desk, chair, internet access)

    All dressing rooms must have: mirrors, a bench/table and chairs, toilet and shower facilities, hanging rails for costumes, and lockable doors. Please advise if any of the above will not be possible.

    Vehicle Access Vehicle access for delivery of instruments to the performance venue is required. Please let us know in advance of any special circumstances so we may prepare accordingly. Storage for instrument casing backstage is required.

    Staff ing Requirements

    Please note: all final staffing arrangements should be confirmed with the Producer prior to the arrival of OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) and after consultation of the Production Schedule.

    Technical Staff ing OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) will include the following Production/Technical Staff:

    The Presenter is required to supply the following Production/Technical Staff:

    Bump-in

    Ø 1 x Lighting Staff (for 8-hours) to assist with installation of touring lighting components Ø 1 x Audio Staff (for 8-hours) to assist with installation of PA and touring audio components

    Rehearsal and Show Cal ls

    Ø FOH Engineer – for all Rehearsal & Performance Calls, as detailed in the Production Schedule Ø Lighting Operator – for all Rehearsal & Performance Calls, as detailed in the Production Schedule

    Bump-out

    Ø 1 x Lighting Staff (for 2-hours) to assist with removal of all lighting Ø 1 x Audio Staff (for 2-hours) to assist with removal of all audio

    It is expected that all staff will be sufficiently experienced in their areas of expertise to complete the aforementioned tasks in the time allotted. If the staff is inexperienced, please allow for more staff, in order to complete these same tasks on schedule. All staff should carry hand-tools appropriate to their task allocations, and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the task at hand.

    FOH Staff ing The Venue/Presenter must provide adequate numbers of FOH staff to quickly turn the venue around between sets, and to ensure the safety of the of audience members at all times throughout the performance.

    Technical Requirements

    Staging OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) will provide the following:

    Ø All set, props and miscellaneous items as required to perform the show Ø All consumables as required to operate the above items, such as batteries, globes etc

    The Presenter is required to supply the following (or local equivalent):

    Ø Drum Riser (2m x 2m @ 0.6m height)

    Audio OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) will provide the following:

    Ø 2 x DI boxes (All guitars go straight into the PA via an Effects Pedal Board and DI) Ø QLab file with Pre-show & Post-show music (laptop can be provided if required) Ø Full Drum Mic Kit (no cables) with:

    - 1 x Sennheiser E901 (Kick) - 3 x Sennheiser E904 (Snare, Rack Tom & Floor Tom) - 2 x Mann M11 (Hi Hat, Overhead)

    Ø 1 x Shure SM58 (for slapstick routine)

    The Presenter is required to supply the following (or local equivalent):

    Ø PA System appropriate to the size and layout of the venue, with all cabling (min. 2 subwoofers) Ø Amplifiers as required by the size of the PA Ø Minimum 12-Channel Audio Console Ø FX Unit with Reverb Ø 2 x 31 band, stereo equalizers (for foldback and FOH) Ø 4 x foldback monitors (on two sends) - all monitors must have minimum 12” woofers. Ø 3 x Shure SM58 Vocal Mics Ø 2 x long boom mic stands Ø 2 x 8-Channel Stage Boxes (as per stage plan) Ø 12 x XLR cables (at appropriate length) to run from all mics/DIs to Stage Distro Boxes Ø 2 x 8-channel loom to run 12 channels from Stage Distro Boxes to FOH control, and 2 sends of

    Technical Requirements

    Power For performances outside of Australia, appropriate adaptors and power transformers must be supplied for operation of practical set electrics and Audio/AV equipment: clean transformation and adaptation of 2 circuits of 240V, 10amp power are required for pedal board and stage equipment.

    Lighting OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) is a live rock concert. The lighting is a mixture of rock concert and some theatrical effects. We can work with almost any house rig but some blue & red back-lights and down-lights works particularly well. If there were any specials available such as Moving Lights we would definitely use them.

    For a full show there are approx 50 lighting cues to program during the tech. The more ROCK, the better!!!! The lighting operator should indulge their creativity and desire for MORE ROCK!

    The Presenter is required to supply the following (or local equivalent):

    o House rig with minimum 20 fixtures for front and back light o Haze Machine, with sufficient fluid for all performances o Minimum 2 x footlights DSL and DSR o Minimum 2 x 4-way Molefay Blinders o Mirror Ball and Spot o Specials (front and backlight) on Drumkit USR, Astrid Vocal Position DSR, Otto Vocal Position DSL

    If the venue has a follow spot and operator available, we would love to use them!

    L ight ing Notes

    Introduction These notes accompany the Generic Lighting Plan (Appendix 2) and are supplied by the Lighting Designer, Gene Hedley (Gene can be reached at [email protected] if you require additional information).

    OTTO & ASTRID needs a decent wash from FOH and the capacity for a rock and roll lighting show. Haze is very important! The format of the shows lends itself to a repeating wash state in between songs. There will be 2 basic positions: Otto at downstage prompt and Astrid at her drums (up stage OP), and both Otto and Astrid downstage at their microphones.

    Lighting Notes continued

    Hung Fixtures Fixtures 1 thru 3 are for an open white stage wash. They are unlikely to use the whole stage depth but if more fixtures are needed to achieve a good FOH wash they will need to be added. Frost to be added if needed. Fixtures 4 thru 6 are a stage wash in blue, I see this mostly as facial highlights during songs.

    LX1 and LX2 are on stage washes. Once again if more fixtures are required to light the stage adequately they should be added. Units on these bars can be paired in colour groups to save dimmer channels

    LX3 is a rock and roll lighting bar. The fixtures should be visible. All PARs can be replaced with LED PARs if available. Enough units to get a good coverage of the stage – if more are required, please add these. If necessary turning cyc units around to back light the stage will be fine.

    Booms and Floor LX For use during the songs and dance numbers. Fixtures can be paired across stage. One set DS to cover

    microphone positions, the other US to cover drum riser. If you have LED PARs, please use them. The 3 floor

    specials 81, 82 and 83 are up lighting on the 3 positions. 500W fresnels or floods are preferable.

    General Wash State The wash should light the performers in both positions. If necessary the movers can be used as specials for

    extra light.

    Rock and Rol l Lighting! This is why there so many movers and blinders on the plan! Play as much as you like. It would be nice to get

    a different feel for each song with big dramatic lighting changes at the top of the songs.

    Blinders can be left on a submaster and used often. Chases from the BLX, side booms and the on stage

    PC's/Fresnels are great as well as gobo spins and occasional strobing from the movers. As much colour and

    movement as possible. I try to build during choruses and shifts in the music. Any special effects you have

    you have will be appreciated, smoke machines, ACLs, Mirror balls and/or bubble machines are great if you

    have them. During the songs try to keep enough face light on the performers so their expressions can be

    seen. Be aware that songs often end abruptly in the middle.

    I have drawn on the plan a mid-stage tab as the backdrop but where possible a star cloth would be fantastic

    as an extra effect during the songs.

    If you have any ideas about spectacular LX effects please share them with the guys and feel free to play and

    build as you know more about the show and the songs.

    - It’s crucial that the audience can hear the words to the songs. We try to reach a compromise between a rock mix and a cabaret mix, so that it feels big and fat, but you can understand all of the lyrics… and it’s not so loud that it’s hurting people’s ears.

    - Please use reverb (and /or delay) during songs and dry during the talking in between songs. - As there is no bass player, it’s helpful to increase the bass frequencies in the guitar fill out the sound. - The kick drum should be a warm round sound with not too much click. Think more Meg White rather

    than Lars Urlich. - Otto & Astrid sometimes switch mics and instruments unexpectedly and without warning, so please

    do not mute any of the channels during the performance.

    Green Pol icy OTTO & ASTRID (DIE ROTEN PUNKTE) have a strong environmental ethos and as such we have a series of goals for achieving a lesser footprint on our tours. Energy Goals

    - That dressing room lights and air conditioning/heating are not turned on until we arrive, unless we specify due to performance requirements

    - That all unnecessary venue and stage lighting and equipment are turned off when the venue is closed. - That stage sound, lighting and screen equipment that can be turned off between our final check and

    the half-hour before our performance time. Waste Goals

    - That there are recycling facilities for paper, cans, plastic and glass available backstage and in all dressing rooms.

    - If the venue collects biodegradable waste that bins are in our dressing rooms. - That ashtrays and/or butt bins are provided in smoking areas

    Catering ( i f organised by the Venue) Goals

    - Only food requested is provided so there will be no wastage and uneaten leftovers. - That every effort is made to provide organic, locally and seasonally sourced food with minimal

    disposable packaging. - That reusable crockery and cutlery are used and disposable ware is avoided. - That unopened drinks are not thrown away. - That taps or bulk water dispensers are conveniently available to our crew and performers at all times

    to re-fill water bottles. Marketing Goals

    - That where possible digital marketing is used in place of print and that any print runs are minimised. General Goals

    - The venue is measuring and managing its environmental impacts, specifically: energy, water, waste and audience travel, and will provide data to the
