Darwin Joseph Ivicic, or “Monk” to those who knew him best, passed away at the age of 65 on Sunday July 11, 2010. He is survived by his sons Nathan and Nicho-las Ivicic of Holland, Texas and his sister Gladys Wood of Powder Springs, Georgia. Although Monk’s time on this earth was un-expectedly cut short by cancer, he packed more life into his 65 years than most could in several lifetimes. He will be sorely missed by many and will undoubtedly never be

forgotten. Monk was a life-long resident of the Holland community having grown up on a farm in the area. He was a volunteer fireman for the Holland community for over 20 years. Monk’s passion for antique tractors, engines and farm implements led to his heavy involvement with the Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association of which he was a life long member and past President of the club as well as charismatic show and parade announcer, even having been referred to as the “voice of the tractor show”. Monk was a human dynamo and unforgettable character. His charisma and humor drew even complete strangers towards him and his friends and family even closer. His legacy will live on through his many contributions of service and countless stories of his actions and adventures that will be shared for years to come. Many items in Monk’s collection are for sale by his sons and can be found at monkstractors.webs.com.

In Remembrance...
