    CAUTION

    IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Water and Moisture Do not use this product near water - for example, near a bath tub, wash

    bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a wet basement; or near a swimming pool; and the like. Stand Do not place the product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod or table. Placing the

    product on an unstable base can cause the product to fall, resulting in serious personal

    injuries as well as damage to the product. Use only a cart, stand, tripod, bracket or tablerecommended by the manufacturer or sold with the product. When mounting the producton a wall, be sure to follow the manufacturers instructions. Use only the mounting hardwarerecommended by the manufacturer.

    Selecting the location Select a place with no direct sunlight and good ventilation. Ventilation The vents and other openings in the cabinet are designed for ventilation. Do not

    cover or block these vents and openings since insufcient ventilation can cause overheatingand/or shorten the life of the product. Do not place the product on a bed, sofa, rug or othersimilar surface, since they can block ventilation openings. This product is not designed forbuilt-in installation; do not place the product in an enclosed place such as a bookcase or rack,unless proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturers instructions are followed.

    The Liquid Crystal panel used in this product is made of glass. Therefore, it can break when theproduct is dropped or applied with impact. Be careful not to be injured by broken glass piecesin case the panel breaks.

    Heat The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heatregisters, stoves, or other products (including ampliers) that produce heat.

    The Liquid Crystal panel is a very high technology product with 2,073,600 pixels (LC-42LE620UT/ LC-46LE620UT/LC-55LE620UT), giving you ne picture details. Occasionally, a few non-activepixels may appear on the screen as a xed point of blue, green or red. Please note that thisdoes not affect the performance of your product.

    Lightning For added protection for this television equipment during a lightning storm, or

    when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet anddisconnect the antenna. This will prevent damage to the equipment due to lightning and power-line surges.

    Power Lines An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overheadpower lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines orcircuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep fromtouching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

    To prevent re, never place any type of candle or ames on the top or near the TV set. To prevent re or shock hazard, do not place the AC cord under the TV set or other heavy

    items. Do not display a still picture for a long time, as this could cause an afterimage to remain. Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects lled

    with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. Do not insert foreign objects into the product. Inserting objects in the air

    vents or other openings may result in re or electric shock. Exercise specialcaution when using the product around children.

    Precautions when transporting the TV When transporting the TV, never carry it by holding or otherwise putting

    pressure onto the display. Be sure to always carry the TV by two peopleholding it with two hands one hand on each side of the TV.

    IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSCaring for the Cabinet Use a soft cloth (cotton, annel, etc.) and gently wipe the surface of the cabinet. Using a chemical cloth (wet/dry sheet type cloth, etc.) may deform the components of the main

    unit cabinet or cause cracking.

    Wiping with a hard cloth or using strong force may scratch the surface of the cabinet. If the cabinet is very dirty, wipe with a soft cloth (cotton, annel, etc.) soaked in neutral

    detergent diluted with water and thoroughly wrung out, and then wipe with a soft dry cloth. The cabinet is primarily made of plastic. Avoid using benzene, thinner, and other solvents, as

    these may deform the cabinet and cause the paint to peel off. Do not apply insecticides or other volatile liquids. Also, do not allow the cabinet to remain in contact with rubber or vinyl products for a long

    period of time. Plasticizers inside the plastic may cause the cabinet to deform and cause thepaint to peel off.

    Caring for the Liquid Crystal panel

    Turn off the main power and unplug the AC cord from the wall outlet before handling. Gently wipe the surface of the display panel with a soft cloth (cotton, annel, etc.).

    To protect the display panel, do not use a dirty cloth, liquid cleaners,or a chemical cloth (wet/ dry sheet type cloth, etc.). This may damagethe surface of the display panel.

    Wiping with a hard cloth or using strong force may scratch thesurface of the display panel.

    Use a soft damp cloth to gently wipe the display panel when it is reallydirty. (It may scratch the surface of the display panel when wipedstrongly.)

    If the display panel is dusty, use an anti-static brush, which is commercially available, to cleanit. To avoid scratching the frame or screen, please use a soft, lint free cloth for cleaning. Approved

    Glass stand Caution:The stand is made of tempered glass. Read the following precautionary instructionscarefully and use it properly.

    Do not drop or place unnecessary stress on it when assembling and attaching the stand. Be sure not to accidentally hit the glass part of the stand with a sharp or hard object, as it may

    cause the glass to break. Using tempered glass with scratches for extended periods may lead to damage occurring. If

    there are scratches on the tempered glass, do not attempt to use the stand.

    THE ISSUE The home theater entertainment experience is a growing trend and larger

    at panel displays are popular purchases. However, at panel displays arenot always supported on the proper stands or installed according to themanufacturers recommendations.

    Flat panel displays that are inappropriately situated on dressers, bookcases,shelves, desks, speakers, chests or carts may fall over and cause injury.

    TUNE INTO SAFETY One size does NOT t all. Follow the manufacturers recommendations for

    the safe installation and use of your at panel display. Carefully read and understand all enclosed instructions for proper use of this

    product. Dont allow children to climb on or play with furniture and television sets. Dont place at panel displays on furniture that can easily be used as steps,

    such as a chest of drawers. Remember that children can become excited while watching a program,

    especially on a larger than life at panel display. Care should be takento place or install the display where it cannot be pushed, pulled over, orknocked down.

    Care should be taken to route all cords and cables connected to the atpanel display so that they cannot be pulled or grabbed by curious children.

    WALL MOUNTING: IF YOU DECIDE TO WALL MOUNT YOUR FLAT PANEL DISPLAY, ALWAYS: Use a mount that has been recommended by the display manufacturer and/or listed by an

    independent laboratory (such as UL, CSA, ETL). Follow all instructions supplied by the display and wall mount manufacturers. If you have any doubts about your ability to safely install your at panel display, contact your retailer

    about professional installation. Make sure that the wall where you are mounting the display is appropriate. Some wall mounts are not

    designed to be mounted to walls with steel studs or old cinder block construction. If you are unsure,contact a professional installer.

    A minimum of two people are required for installation. Flat panel displays can be heavy.

    Attaching/Detaching the Stand

    Before attaching (or detaching) the stand, unplug the AC cord from the AC INPUTterminal. Before performing work spread cushioning over the base area to lay the TV on. This will

    prevent it from being damaged.

    CAUTION

    Attach the stand in the correct direction. Be sure to follow the instructions. Incorrect installation of the stand may result

    in the TV falling over.

    required. Conrm the 9 screws supplied with the TV.

    The 8 screws are already put in the screw holes of stand neck and base, and need tobe fastened while assembling (in step 2 & 4).

    1. Use a cross-head screwdriver to remove thescrew that attches the neck cover to the standneck and pull out the neck cover from the bottomside softly.

    2. Fasten 4 screws to attach the neck to the base.3. Put the TV face down on a safe surface that is

    covered by a soft and smooth cloth.4. Tighten the 4 screws to secure the stand neck to

    the TV and make the TV attach rmly.5. Put on the neck cover and match the tenons in

    the right holes.Use the screw to x the neck coverto the stand neck.

    CAUTION

    To prevent the stand from dropping and the risk of accidents, two people arerequired while attaching the neck to the TV (step 4). One man shall hold thebase with two hands when the other is fastening the screws.

    Do not push to hard or put excessive pressure to the stand neck to avoid thedamages when you turn the TV for the most comfortable viewing angle.

    The neck cover is combined with the stand neck when shipped in its origianl container. To detach the stand, perform the steps in reverse order.

    To detach the neck from the TV safely, two people are required whiledetaching the neck to the TV. One man shall hold the base with two handswhen the other is loosening the screws.

    Quick Installation Tips

    Attach your antenna to the back of thetelevision. (See page 14.)

    How to turn on the television for the rsttime.

    A) Press POWER on the television.B) The POWER indicator on the frontof the television lights BLUE.

    Connect the AC plug for the televisioninto the AC outlet.

    Speakers cannot be detached from the TV.

    Place the TV close to the AC outlet, andkeep the power plug within reach.

    This product must only be connected toa 120V, 60Hz.Connecting it to any other kind of outletwill damage the product and invalidatethe warranty.

    Using the Remote Control Unit

    Use the remote control unit by pointing it towards the remote control sensor on the TV.Objects between the remote control unit and the remote control sensor may preventproper operation.

    ! Cautions regarding the remotecontrol unit

    Do not expose the remote control unitto shock. In addition, do not expose theremote control unit to liquids, and donot place in an area with high humidity.

    Do not install or place the remote controlunit under direct sunlight. The heat maycause deformation of the remote controlunit.

    The remote control unit may not workproperly if the remote control sensor onthe TV is under direct sunlight or stronglighting. In such cases, change the angleof the lighting or the TV, or operate theremote control unit closer to the remotecontrol sensor.

    IMPORTANT:If the POWER indicator on the television still does not light up, press POWER on the remote controlto turn the power on.

    To enjoy a clearer picture, use an outdoor antenna. The following is a brief explanation ofthe types of connections that are used for a coaxial cable. If your outdoor antenna usesa 75-ohm coaxial cable with an F-type connector, plug it into the antenna terminal at therear of the TV set.

    1. A 75-ohm system is generally a roundcable with F-type connector that caneasily be attached to a terminal withouttools (Commercially available).

    2. A 300-ohm system is a at twin-leadcable that can be attached to a 75-ohmterminal through a 300/75-ohm adapter(Commercially available).

    When connecting the RF cable to the TV set,do not tighten F-type connector with tools.If tools are used, it may cause damage toyour TV set. (The breaking of internal circuit,etc.)

    Installing Batteries in the Remote Control Unit

    CAUTION

    Improper use of batteries can result in chemical leakage or explosion. Be sure to follow

    the instructions below. Do not mix batteries of different types. Different types of batteries have differentcharacteristics.

    Do not mix old and new batteries. Mixing old and new batteries can shorten the life ofnew batteries or cause chemical leakage in old batteries.

    Remove batteries as soon as they are worn out. Chemicals that leak from batteriescome in contact with skin can cause a rash. If you nd any chemical leakage, wipethoroughly with a cloth.

    The batteries supplied with this product may have a shorter life expectancy due tostorage conditions.

    If you will not be using the remote control unit for an extended period of time, removebatteries from it. The batteries (batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as

    sunshine, re or the like.

    1 Open the battery cover.

    Place the batteries with their terminalscorresponding to the ( & ) and (' )indications in the battery compartment.

    2 Insert two AA size batteries (suppliedwith the product).

    3 Close the battery cover.

    If the remote control fails to operate TV functions, replace the batteries in the remotecontrol unit.

    Connecting to External Equipment You can connect many types of external equipment to your TV like a Blu-ray disc player,HD-DVD player, DVD player, VCR, HDMI equipment, game console or camcorder. Toview external source images, select the input source from INPUT on the remote controlunit or INPUT on the TV. (See page 26.)

    To protect equipment, always turn off the TV before connecting any externalequipment.

    You can have the same settings bychoosing Surround on the menuitems. (See page 35.)

    FREEZE Allows you to capture and freeze a movingimage that you are watching.Press FREEZE .

    A moving image is captured. Press FREEZE again to cancel the

    function

    AV MODE AV MODE gives you several viewingoptions to choose from to best matchthe surrounding environment of the TV,

    which can vary due to factors like roombrightness, type of program watchedor the type of image input from externalequipment.Press AV MODE . Current AV MODEdisplays.

    Press AV MODE again before themode displayed on the screendisappears.

    AUDIO! MTS/SAP stereo mode

    The TV has a feature that allows receptionof sound other than the main audio forthe program. This feature is called Multi-channel Television Sound (MTS). The TVwith MTS can receive mono sound, stereosound and Secondary Audio Programs(SAP). The SAP feature allows a TVstation to broadcast other information,which could be audio in another languageor something completely different likeweather information.

    You can enjoy Hi-Fi stereo sound or SAPbroadcasts when available.

    Stereo broadcasts: View programslike live sporting events, shows andconcerts in dynamic stereo sound.

    SAP broadcasts: Receive TVbroadcasts in either MAIN or SAPsound.MAIN sound : The normal programsoundtrack (either in mono or stereo).SAP sound: Listen to a second language,supplementary commentary or otherinformation. (SAP is mono sound.)

    If stereo sound is difcult to hear.

    Obtain a clearer sound by manuallyswitching to xed mono-sound mode.

    Closed Captions (CC) Your TV is equipped with an internalClosed Caption decoder. It allows youto view conversations, narration andsound effects as subtitles on your TV.Closed Captions are available on some TV

    programs and on some VHS home videotapes at the discretion of the programprovider.

    Digital Closed Caption service is a newcaption service available only on digital

    TV programs (also at the discretion ofthe service provider). It is a more exiblesystem than the original Closed Captionsystem, because it allows for a variety ofcaption sizes and font styles. When theDigital Closed Caption service is in use, itwill be indicated by the appearance of a3-letter abbreviation that also indicates thelanguage of the Digital Closed Captions:ENG (English), SPA (Spanish), FRA(French) or other language codes.

    Not all programs and VHS videotapesoffer closed captions.

    In the Closed Caption system, therecan be more than one caption serviceprovided. Each is identied by its ownnumber. The CC1 to CC4 servicesdisplay subtitles of TV programssuperimposed over the program's picture.

    In the Closed Caption system, the TEXT1to TEXT4 services display text that isunrelated to the program being viewed(e.g., weather or news). These servicesare also superimposed over the programcurrently being viewed.1. Press CC.

    Caption Display will not work whenviewing a 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i or1080p input via the COMPONENT:

Designed to help thehearing impaired, this feature uses on-screen text boxes to show dialoguesand conversations while the TV programis in progress. Captions will appear on thescreen during captioned broadcasts.

    Digital Closed Caption This allows you to congure the wayyou choose to view digital captioning.Select one of the digital service channelsmade available by the caption provider.

    There are six standard services. Service1 is designated as the Primary CaptionService. This service contains theverbatim, or near-verbatim captions forthe primary language being spoken in theaccompanying program audio. Service 2is designated as the Secondary LanguageService. This service contains captionsin a secondary language, which is a

    developed takes into consideration other program content, like language, nudity,sexuality and mature themes.
